FW 14.13 - Reduced Font Size in 2- and 3-field Data Screens

Problem surfaced in recent beta, now in current firmware release - activity data screens with 2 and some 3-field data screen layouts have very small fonts as compared to previous FW versions. Workaround is to use 4-field screen layouts, which provide larger fonts for each field.

  • Great idea. A ratio of rates (say bugs per month rolling).

If course if the ratio is > 1 then we have the conditions for an epidemic!

  • Yes indeed the backligth is really a mess. Has been reported as well of course :) for instance in the sleepmode if you set it to keys off, it still lights up.

Please report the back-light issue for the non-beta version. The back light issue is a realy problem as it causes battery drain.

  • Yes, installed the Connect Mobile update today and noticed that small font. Maybe the new Garmin style? I hope that my FR245 won't receive an update anymore because I'm afraid that they'll break the fonts, too.

  • Same here, updated yesterday, and now 2 fields screens uses very small fonts. Not usable.

    Reboot didn't change anything.

Also the battery was drained rather fast after the update.

  • I have reported this numerous of times, in every section of this forum. Abász has done the same, highlighting many more instances than I have. I even filed a detailed bug report with videos and logs for an older firmware version, but is seems like that report was ignored or discarded once new firmware is released.

Plus the bug seems to be getting worse.

  • Yes, that's really annoying. Maybe they fix a problem but create a new one. And why do they have a beta program when they ignore the bug reports?

  • Hi All. Is there a way to avoid this particular update on permanent basis? I guess I am lucky having disabled automatic updates a while ago. But I have seen several prompts to update to the latest v.14.13. Yesterday I even saw a count-down when I quickly pressed the button to stop the update from happening. It seems Garmin is trying to enforce it. I live in UK, I have had Forerunner 255S for about 1.5 months and I am very happy with it ... while it is on v.13.23 (right this moment). I accept that updates are required from time to time to improve features or security of the device, but not like this - casing new issues by breaking something that worked well. So, how to stop this v.14.13 update completely?

  • Thank you all for confirming what happened—I was thinking I'd lost my mind. And thanks for the workaround. What's the best way for me to report it as well—I've already sent an email to support, but if there's a more effective way that I can add my voice, I'd be happy to.

  • 14.15 update has fixed this issue for me. Normal fonts now for screen layouts.
