Would you choose FR 255 or Fenix 6 Pro?

Hi folks,

The MSRP of the new FR 255 is 350 EUR, while it's already possible to find discounted brand new Fenix 6 Pro for 390-400 EUR in Europe/Netherlands. Which one would you choose any why?

Do the new sensors in FR255 beat the map features and robust build of the Fenix series for your use case?

I’m aware of the functionality differences between FR 255 and the Fenix line, but since they are available in the similar price range right now (basically price difference of one not-so-fancy dinner), I’m curious what would be your choice if you had to choose one.

I have a Fenix 6 Pro Sapphire and am going to upgrade to either the 255 or 955. Probably the 255, as I don't really use maps or need the touch screen. There's just too many new additions that I think I'll get use out of in the new line. And, although the F6 is an awesome watch, I think I'm ready to go back to something much lighter (and thinner, mostly).

Definitely the 255 because of GPS, smaller size/weight. I owned F6Pro and the GPS was catastrophic. In F7 it's great and I like the touchscreen maps.

Definitely the 255 because of GPS, it's game changer.The 255 has a lot of new useful features. I had fenix 7 but its weight was too big and it hurt my wrist as well as gps was much worse and with 255 garmin made perfect watch. Now nothing is missing and everything works great.

I just ordered the 255s based on size and weight. I have a Fenix 6s that I plan to sell. I had the 6s because it was the only smaller watch Garmin offered with the functionality I wanted. All of that has been added to the 255 in a smaller and lighter package. I live in a mountainous area so am interested to see how the new GPS does. For my money, I would buy the 255.

My requirements may differ to yours however

Battery life I think you need to take Garmin's estimate and divide for 2 - I had to do my first recharge after about 5 3/4 days.

It really comes to your life style and activities. If you do a lot of hiking camping the fenix. For Just sports the FR for me is king. I have the fenix 5 and forerunner 255 just upgraded from another forerunner. I have not used the fenix in 2 years. Sleeping with fenix sucks lol

Could you please clarify why you think so? I am about to pull the trigger on the Fenix 6 pro, to be used for splitboarding,running, hiking. Then I read two things: GPS is terrible on the fenix 6 while new 255/955 has updated GPS, and also that in any case you can upload the Backcountry profile on any Forerunner as well. Where /why do you think the Fenix might be better? Thank you
