GPS Version 4.10

  • No change log available
  • Hello

how do you load previous updates?
will that wipe the current software.
I’m having same issue with list audio prompts since auto updated

  • After the botched 4.40 update installed OTA/via phone I noticed audio prompts were gone and battery life was bad (nearly 30% per day with only a 30min GPS activity).

To fix it I installed Garmin Express, ran through the usual device linking stuff and checked the software version in Garmin Express - it showed 4.40, then synced it. Unplugged, plugged back in and synced again in Garmin Express.
Someone mentioned the Garmin Web Updater app, so I downloaded that, installed and connected to the watch. It said no updates were needed.
Then connected to Garmin Connect App and it started syncing.

Restarted watch and then went for a run and audio prompts were back! Too early to know if it fixed battery life too, but will update.

Those were the exact steps I took. I can't say which step fixed it, since at no point did it say it was installing an update. It may have been the restart that fixed it (although I have restarted it a few times since I noticed the issues). But whatever I did, seems to have fixed the audio prompts at least.

  • Thanks,

Just a remark, with this 4.40  I never lost vocal prompt (alert that the Garmin 245 sent to my smartphone )

Garmin 245 continues to make a small bip and vibrate after each 'circuit' (1km).

For me it just an abnormal battery drain around 1,3/1,5% by hour, without activity/gps...

  • Wanted to throw my hat into the ring as well on the battery drain issue, it was bad for me starting with 4.20. Seems to be the same with airplane mode or not (to rule out external comms draining the battery).

I lose about 13% during the day that includes a 1 hour gps-only workout and about 5% overnight (8 hrs, no spo2).

  • Did anyone else notice HRM connection drop-outs (lasting for few seconds) after most of laps/training steps/km finished? Disappointed Seeing it with my HRM-RUN. Appeared directly after update from 4.20 and seen during every single run.

  • Can anyone demonstrate an improvement to the GPS accuracy?

  • I have no problem with battery drain, it’s a little worse but not disasterous. The bigger concern is that the pace announcements on a workout, I.e. set intervals with as specific pace, are not consistent. The audio announcements are out of sync with the visual representation on the watch face, by as much as 30s/km, and today this didn’t rectify itself until 6 minutes in to a 10 minute interval!! Former Member can this please be addressed ASAP. It makes the device useless as a training aid, and I’m now not sure I can trust it through an upcoming virtual half marathon. Or can I revert back to the previous software version? Pushing out buggy software if not a great model.

  • In my 245 the GPS accuracy is worse, location Portugal GPS in GPS/GLONASS mode. I have a Edge 530 too, with the same GPS hadware, and with the same config in same location the GPS accuracy its spot on!!!

  • I had better results with GPS+Gallileo in South Europe.

I don't know how far north you are, but my GPS accuracy improved with the update.

Is your GPS software updated as well?

There was a problem with the OTA update. Try connecting to Garmin express and see if you get another update (that's what happened to me)

  • I have better results since 2 days.

I Don t know if Garmin push a release for Bluetooth or something else. (I m still on 4.41)

I change on my side my battery tracker widget to: 'battery monitor' instead of 'battery widget with automatic.. '

    Night around : 0,5%/h

    Day around : 1%/h

Average since 1,5days => - 0,8%/h ( without sport, gps tracking BUT with notifications)

    Seems better and acceptable now.

    Best Regards,

    Thomas
