Forerunner 245 Series Updates SW 4.40 is now live

These updates can be downloaded with Garmin Express or automatically with Garmin Connect Mobile (pending rollout). 

Software Version 4.40:  

  • Improvements to GPS
  • Fixed training modes (workouts, intervals, set a target, etc.) in Virtual Running to allow connection to phone app
  • Changed filtering of activities for Race an Activity. List of activities is now narrowed to those within the same general sport type.
  • Several improvements to Breathwork
  • Fixed an issue where the device would always display the 'Updating' spinner when changing an alarm
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements
  • Improvements to music playback/sync/providers 245M Only
  • Updated audio prompts. New prompts include high/low alerts. 245M Only
  • Several Wi-Fi related improvements 245M Only

    2 main issues with this sw. Audio prompts are gone. Battery drain whilst during workout is crazy. Like twice as much. Went for a 50min run with music used over 30% battery. At this rate all battery gone after 3hrs. it used to be 4hrs. A time I could complete a marathon. Now I can't. What's going on garmin

    I can confirm that battery drain is insane now. It's around 30 % per day without workout.

    Indeed 30% per day. Instead of 15-17% per day.

    No technic to return to previous firmware without data cleaning.

    Since this update I’ve noticed that on a Garmin Coach plan the pace is starting to lag behind in the second/third interval. The display on the watch will show one figure and the audio prompt is telling me a pace usually a few seconds faster, which is confusing as I don’t know which is the correct one. It resolves itself eventually after 5/6minutes in to the interval, but happens on each run.

    I am also experiencing battery drain after the 4.40 update.

    The 4.20 firmware was great in terms of battery, I have managed upto 12 days on 1 charge (with spo and watch messages off).

    Now with the 4.40 update it is much worse.

    Please fix this with the next update!!

    Battery drain seems to be approx. double, compared to the previous 4.20 update. Also during the night with spo2 sleep tracking off. I am disappointed.

    +1 for lost audio prompts and increased battery drain. Anyone solution/update yet?

    I'm updating to the Forerunner245_441Beta.

    We will see battery drain during this night and tomorrow.

    I'm at 100% and ready to sleep :-)

    I will give you feddback but the release note (of 4.41) do not communicated about a battery optimisation...

    Drain battery (with 4.41)

    0,55%/hour during the night

    1,33%/h since this morning.

    I think it change nothing this 4.41

    Ok, thanks for the info.

    Let's hope they will fix this in a next update quickly.....
