update: no more step tracking, sleep and inconsistent heart rate

Since the last update, the watch has become unusable: no longer sleep tracking, steps are no longer counted and the heart rate is completely inconsistent
  • Just had it freeze on the activity screen, although that's working again.

I have touch enabled for general use but disabled for activities. After an activity (whether you save or discard it) touch stops working for a while before working again. Seems like another lag issue.

It's surprising that Garmin hasn't pulled this update to stop it from going out to more devices.

  • Same symptoms on FR165. HR during idle and activities stays at 73-75BPM, GPS is not properly working it seems, steps counter shows incorrect data, interface became more sluggish, start/stop button during activities takes ~5s to respond, battery started to discharge noticeably faster.

  • Good day, i have been struggling since Wednesday morning after the update with my Garmin forerunner 165. It is so frustrating. my step counter is down. my run activities don't start stop anymore. and my heart rate is off. Can anyone assist? I have done a factory reset and its still not right.

  • Facing the same issue…

  • Confirm this is happening to my Forerunner 165: Applied firmware update to 27.09 yesterday, was all fine, but then today I removed the watch to charge it around 8am, put it on, did my things for a few hours and then noticed around lunch time that since I put it on, it didn't track steps nor heart rate. I turned off and on the watch and then it started to work again.

  • I have the same issue. After the latest 27.09 software update, the heart rate monitor on my FR165 has been completely inaccurate. Was fine just before the update, but it's been all over the place right after the 27.09 update. Useless for fitness tracking now. During a standard run, HR monitor seems to be stuck in the 70's, then jumps to 150 for a few seconds, then jumps back down and stuck again in the 70's. GARMIN please fix this ASAP please!!!!!

  • My wife is experiencing the same issues since the update with a Forerunner 265.

  • Greetings, I'm having trouble detecting heart rate and steps after the recent update. During an outdoor run, heart rate was inaccurate using the watch's heart rate sensor, it detected 75bpm during my easy effort, which was supposed to be around 120bpm.

  • Yes, I have the same issues with my FR165 after the 27.09 upgrade.

  • I‘ve had the same issues with my garmin 165 music
