HRM Dual - plastic battery cover separated from screws

First time I change my battery on mu HRM Dual :

Support tell me it's not under garanty anymore, poor quality, won't buy Garmin strap anymore.

I will continue to keep it attached with an electrician tape but in my opinion it's a really bad design....

First try if Garmin will replace it. If they don't, electrical tape may hold it, Perhaps self-vulcanizing rubber tape works better, it is really good at waterproofing antenna connectors outdoors. I don…

Is it possible you’ve done something wrong? I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve changed mine without issues. Also not aware of any other reports of this over the years.

It looks as if you have used way too much force on the upper screws and this way broken the plastic, sorry to say.

Like philipshambrook wrote, personally I have also done a couple of battery changes and the battery cover is ok. So for the next strap, whatever brand it is, be careful.
That the design, using four screws, is not the best, I agree. Makes it too complicated, compared with a "twistlock"

It seems I'm not the only one, and it brokes when I removed the screws... I was very carefull to not force on anything.

I don't know how good it is or how bad it smells at body temperature and exposed to sweat though. (I have a HRM-2 or 3, same design, with a broken cover that I plan to repair that way, but didn't do that yet).

yeah I fixed it with electrical tape. But in my opinion it is not normal and a very bad design/quality.
They proposed me to replace for a 50% rebate, I don't want to pay, my belt works perfectly with the lectrical tape.
