HRM-dual only display heart rate on activity but not on Garmin connect App.

Hello,

I bought the Edge 530 Sensor Bundle with a hrm-dual heart rate sensor and a Venu Sq 2 music. When I am cycling using my Venu to broadcast heart rate and the edge 530, my daily heart rate chart and intensity minutes will update after I am done the activity in the garmin connect app. When I use the hrm-dual it will show on the activity my heart rate but not on my daily heart rate or intensity chart. Look at the figures below for examples of what is happen.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I read some other threads and some people think its an issue with the HRM-dual or software but I was unable to find a solution or answer.

Figure 1: This is my heart rate chart after doing a cycling activity using my Edge and hrm-dual. Notice during the activity no heart rate is added.

  • The Edge 530/HRM Dual will not add the heart rate data to the heart rate chart nor provide intensity minutes, you need the HRM Pro to add those metrics

  • The HRM Dual is limited in capabilities, and it requires a Garmin device to be used. It cannot be added as a device in Garmin Connect app. So far it won't connect with a few other apps I've tried.

  • I'd like to add my experience to this issue. When I used a Vivoactive 3 along with my Garmin Edge 1030, there was no problem combining the heart rate readings from the HRM dual with those from the Vivoactive 3. However, now that I've upgraded to a Forerunner 965, it's impossible to do this, which is quite disappointing.

It seems that Garmin has changed something in their newer devices or software that prevents this useful feature from working. This is a step backward in terms of functionality and user experience. As a long-time Garmin user, I find it frustrating that a capability that worked well before is no longer available.

I would strongly urge Garmin to address this issue and restore the ability to combine heart rate data from external sensors like the HRM dual with wearable devices across their entire product line. This kind of seamless integration between devices is what users expect from a premium brand like Garmin.

  • Try removing and re-adding the HRM-Dual in Garmin Connect and check for firmware updates. It may help sync heart rate to daily stats.
