HRM-PRO Autocalibration

I updated the HRM and there is an option for distances and tempos. I'm happy to change  my old Food sensor. But.

I want to switch the distance and pace to the "always" option, but the "autocalibration" option turns off

How to set the distance and pace manually

In food under was the rate, and what to do in HRM-PRO?

I do not understand this Garmin.

  • Issue is if you run 2h you don't have feedback  calibration done.

After Calibration you don't have option to compare example speed from gps vs from hr to be sure is the same.

In my case when i select always speed there -5-20s is different current speed. I check with stryd

In my case many times speed is stuck example i run yesterday 4,40 speed show me 4,50 after 100m there was alert you run too slow and asap show me 4,45 it was looks like calibration was during run after few 4hours calibration only outside with full gps.

  • you see data from stryd stable line Garmin speed up and down

  • On the Garmin you see pick when speed is stuck on the stryd speed is stable without any pick .

  • I’m fully aware about it, especially when you use different treadmills on the gym.
But from other hand GPS also have issue with precisiona and it is not a problem for you as I understand?

Only way to have good precision is to have measures distance and do calibration on it, but, who in reality have it, and how many calibration session you should do to cover all possible paces you could run?

  • I started use Garmin from Fenix 3 Sapphire and now have Fenix 7X Sapphire (had couple other models between), also have HRM-Run and HRM-Pro, plus Index S2.

Yes, I did calibration, around 5 hours runs outside.
Yesterday did first run with Pace set to HRM-Pro and for me looks quite reasonable, average pace for run was 6:23 and current pace which was recoded via sytrap was between 6:20 to 6:15 per km, and also was quite stable.

To be honest, for me it is irelevant because I’m more interested about average pace that current pace, when I’m in the good condition it is not a problem to me to run couple km with pace varies 1 - 3 sec per km without checking it on the watch.

I agree with couple other comments here that Garmin should give us more options.
    1. Should notify that calibration is finished.
    2. Why it is not an option to use strap for pace outside and have autocalibration ON.
    3. If we have such possibility we should have option to do manual calibration on measured track.

I could mention couple other optiom which might we good to have but then it will be huge peace of software to put in such small peace ;)

It is all fro my side.
    BTW
In couple days, I will be forced to do my runs on treadmill and for sure will take this opportunity to do more HRM-Pro calibrations, will let you know about results when will be back.

  • I agere, it’s a pity that it is not possible to compare pace from GPS and the strap.

  • I reset calibration and i will do again calibration .

Could you please do test and share screen how speed was stable and if was correct and distans was correct with configuration

    1. Satelits  UltraTrack
    2. Speed always from hr
    3. Dystanse always from Hr
  • Hi.
Yes, I can do this, but don’t understand why you ask me to set UltrTrack, it is worse possible setting to track run activity.

  • I expect if hr is well calibrated works perfect due to poor quality from UltraTrack you should not feel speed or distance will be wrong. In other words . You can save battery and  speed / distance will be stable and perfect .

I can't do that yet ,because first i need calibrate again

  • I agree, but watch still will use GPS to draw your track, than using UltraTrac will cause very bad track on the map.
If nothing happened I’ll do this Sunday, will try to choose some of my usual courses to have comparision about distance.
