HRM-PRO Autocalibration

I updated the HRM and there is an option for distances and tempos. I'm happy to change  my old Food sensor. But.

I want to switch the distance and pace to the "always" option, but the "autocalibration" option turns off

How to set the distance and pace manually

In food under was the rate, and what to do in HRM-PRO?

I do not understand this Garmin.

  • It is when you read only half of manual.
In the same manual, on the same page below, Garmin says:

    Accuracy Tips

Tips below require the HRM-Pro or HRM-Pro Plus to be paired and connected to your watch.

    • Best accuracy is typically achieved by doing several outdoor runs followed by a manual calibration.

      • On the treadmill by selecting Calibrate and Save when prompted on your watch when stopping and saving your activity.

    • Outdoor run activities should cover the same range of paces as you typically run on the treadmill. Auto Calibrate should be set to On.

      • From your watch go to your sensors menu and select HR>HRM Pace & Distance>Auto Calibrate>On.

    And also says:

Auto calibration will NOT occur under these conditions:

    • Running indoors

    • Running outdoors using the Trail or Ultra Run activity profiles

    • Using a foot pod sensor during your run

    • Terrain you are running on is very hilly

    • If Auto Calibrate is set to OFF under the HRM Pace & Dist. Settings

    • If Use for Pace is set to Always, under the HRM Pace & Dist Settings

Third bullet point is especially interesting.

  • And? Didn't get your point.

Footpod is of course disconnected while autocalibrating HRM pro.

  • I own a great deal of Garmin equipment,

I have been using their watches since the Foreruner 305 and HRM firsts.

I am a fan of Garmin, but products like the scale that failed. They themselves have officially admitted it as well as the HRM PRO update is a failure.

What good is an option that doesn't do its job. I posted a picture here real time of 1 km on the road 5:10, and the bar gives 5:32. Sory but this even as a toy does not work.

I'll post on the forum because I hope someone from Garmin will see the discussion and improve it in the next release.

This strap does not cost 10 euros just expensive. It works great, but the measurement of pace and distance failed.

It is better to write the truth and expect good products than to settle for mediocre quality.

I do not intend to give up Garmin, I even urge others to use this product. But I also expect high standards from Garmin for high prices.

Yes in the instructions there is nothing about running on a treadmill. Read with understanding.

If you succeeded in calibration then show the results. I'll share how you did it.

I would be happy to improve my calibration

  • Do you understand the absurdity of how much you have to do to calibrate the belt?

Instead of the option of non-exclusive calibration or its manual modification without a treadmill.

  • OK, what with treadmill run to correct accuracy?

  • OK, I understand.
You complain but don’t want to follow producent guidence how to use the device because it is absurd for you.
And you complain about price but earlier mentioning Stryd which cost more than HRM-Pro and also not so easy calibration procedure.
    Make your mind.

    No more question.

  • And you have the problem of the treadmill being not accurate, normally the speed that they show isn´t very true.

  • In my opinion would be much easy to have the option to have a extra sensor page, just like the Garmin Footpod has. I have a footpod and it has automatic calibration and manual calibration and it works spot on at the meter.

Can´t understand the way that Garmin whent with this, it simply doesn´t work.

Calibrating manually only with a treadmill is surreal, because they simply aren´t accurate.

The best way would me manually as with the Footpod in a controlled distance track.

  • Adam,

Did you finish calibrating the belt?
Is it working properly, +/- 10-20m?
If it is ok for you great. For me it is not!

I'm not complaining that Garmin is expensive, just that if it's expensive I expect good stuff.
I currently own a fenix 6x shaffire, fenix 6s, hropro, hrm run, gpsmap66 st, edge 830, edge 530, varia, rally rs200, weight index s2, tempe and foodpod sensor do you seriously think it's all about the money?
I just have a different opinion and think that Garmin's way is weak. that's it.

Useless of all this is the scale and the 8.8 add-on to HRM PRO

I know the good and weaknesses of their products. They are not perfect, I know. And I both criticize them and praise them as they have nice equipment. Because for the most part it is good.

PS. I do not use stryd

  • I'm glad you're writing this. 100% agree
