RD pod not recognized after battery change

I received a message that the battery of my Running Dynamics Pod was low, so I replaced it with a brand new battery following the instructies provided by Garmin. Unfortunately, the pod is not recognized anymore by my watch. I tried deleting the pod from my watch (FR735XT) and searching for it again (while walking around with it), but no luck.

The replacement battery was a new Varta CR3216 and I even bought a new Duracell CR3216 to be sure the new battery wasn't faulty or incompatible, but again, no luck. I have checked the orientation of the battery and I am sure I have installed it correctly. Currently, I am quite annoyed by this, because the exact same thing happened to me with two (!) HRM-run straps. After that, I switched to a Polar H10 and changing the battery in that one is a piece of cake. Does anyone have any advice? I'm really at a loss here.
