Vivoactive 4 Battery Drain

Since the recent software update to 5.6 my battery lasts for less than 4 days. it was initially atleast 6 days. I do not have any app/fancy watch face. I mostly use Garmin for steps tracking and heart rate. I dont know what in recent update is causing this battery drain. it seems to be getting worse. is anyone else facing this issue?

  • Yes, knowing which faces these are would be awesome!

  • I'm using Quattro and Enduro, paid versions, from Playitloud developer. I'm not using seconds, weather, graphs, HR and rest of drain battery options... don't use wifi at all, don't use BT over night... have about 3 hours of GPS activity per week.

  • Also, I use oxiometry just manually, have always do not dusturb on (there's no vibrations) - I manually look if there are messages, and use vibration and backlight level at minimum (backlight only over night). That would be about all that matters for battery drain, I supose.

  • I synchronize manually with Connect app 4 to 5 times per day and don't have Connect app running in background.

  • Since upgrade to 5.80 my battery drains about 10 times faster.

I reset the watch few times, but it didn't help...

Hey everyone. After updating to the new 5.80 firmware, if you are still experiencing OR just started to experience a rapid battery drain, please remove any Connect IQ watch faces that you have installed on the watch. The developer of the watch face which you have installed may need to update the watch face or could have recently processed an update on their watch face that is not calibrated to work correctly with the 5.80 firmware. If you have removed all Connect IQ content on the watch AND you are still experiencing a rapid battery drain, we encourage you to reach out to your local Garmin support. If you are located in the US or Canada, tag me and I would be happy to assist.
  • Hey I appreciate the advice and recognize that this approach will work. But as you might guess this is frustrating for your customer base. I am not a CIQ developer but my expectation is that if I were a developer there would be a method to tell me the "gotcha's" that I need to address in upcoming firmware versions. Ideally before it is released. Then I could make the changes and release to my customers, coordinated with the firmware release. As it stands you are asking your customers to communicate to your developers and this seems backwards to me.

  • When I switched watchface to Garmin original (that came with watch), battery consumption got back to "normal". However, like AI P said, it seems that whenever new firmware version is released, some CIQ developers (and their customers) are "step behind".

  • Thank you for sharing your watchfaces and the way you use your watch! I'll experiment with mine a bit too, because I never tried setting DND, I'm curious how much it will improve the battery life.

  • Well, I mainly use DND because when you get a lots of messages it's annoying Slight smile

But I assume if you got a lots of messages DND can also save few battery percent.

  • Myself I disabled all but important apps to send me messages so I either get notification about moving, reaching my goals or something important but that's not frequent. I wish that firmware we have now also had that widget like in beta which has timers for notifications, bluetooth modules and such. This could make tracking battery life way easier.
