Vivoactive 4 Battery Drain

Since the recent software update to 5.6 my battery lasts for less than 4 days. it was initially atleast 6 days. I do not have any app/fancy watch face. I mostly use Garmin for steps tracking and heart rate. I dont know what in recent update is causing this battery drain. it seems to be getting worse. is anyone else facing this issue?

  • Ok, please email me. Thank you.

  • Its annoying....  on some days the battery is going down for only 15-20% per day and this is stable for a few consecutive days. And then on other days the watch is loosing 50% of its battery in one day with no activity started or used, nothing changed in the configuration. Completely unforseeable and annoying (because you never know if the battery will last for the rest of the day when you are going out of home).

  • Have you checked the heart rate sensors? I have noticed that they are mostly blinking, but sometimes they are solid on. I assume this solid mode uses more power, but I haven't figured out the pattern yet.

  • I’m pretty sure the issue isn’t to do with the sensors, but instead the “high power” and “low power” mode the watch can be in. Normally on gesture it will go into high power mode, and then revert back. But post 5.80 it can get stuck in high power mode.

I’ve sent a week’s worth of logs to Garmin - really hoping they can fix this soon! I miss having ~5 days battery.

  • Hi all, my problem after 5.8 is solved!

I had the same problem: after 5.8 my battery lasted only 2 days instead of 5. I tried everything mentioned here, but nothing. Now here is what i (accidenty) did:

I updated to version 6.02 (didnt fix the problem). But every time the watch gives me a "be more active" notification, or any other notification,  i noticed that the second-hand of my watchface kept moving. For some reason, after a notification,  the watch goes in "full power" mode.

Now when i swipe down (i see a screen that my software version is 6.02) and up again, the watch returns into "normal" mode and the second-hand disappears again after a few seconds.

I have no idea why, but even tho its pretty annoying swiping up and down every so many times a day, but my battery is back to 5/6 days again.

Hope this works out for more watches

  • Good one, I'll give this a go. I too upgraded to 6.02 as my battery life was shockingly bad.

  • How about trying 6.03 instead? It seems to have related fix.

  • so far I didn't experience that problem with seconds mentioned above but I'm using 6.03 so far it working about the same as 6.02 for me and still has that issue with PulseOX turning on in the morning and hopefully it will be addressed in the next update too.

  • from what i can see up to now 6.03 did not change the battery drain - still 1%/h. (Vivoactive 4s)

  • They already fixed the PulseOX issue in Beta 6.05 after you mentioned it! That was quick response.
