battery life issue

Got my V4 3-4 months ago. No issues. Through the summer used it daily, almost 24/7. Besides daily exercise, I was monitoring my sleep patterns. Five or more days before charge.

A week or two ago there was an upgrade. Seems that since then, battery lasts less than 24hrs. So, really recent issue.

I've seen a lot of info from a year ago. This seems new.

Help please.

  • I am using everything standard. Same problem that everyone else has raised. Got the watch in July, 2020. No issues until most recent update. Please put me on the list.

  • I apologize, this case is still under review. When there are updates, I will provide the feedback.

  • Hi ,

please also add me to the ticket. My average battery life went down from 5+ days to about 2 days with the 5.10 firmware update. :-(

    Thanks

  • Hi please add me to the ticket for battery drain  hope this fix start roll out very soon

  • Please add me to the ticket as well. Same issues with severe battery drain due to CIQ watchfaces after upgrading to SW 5.10.

I'm with as well. I've purchased Garmin products of all types for over a decade and every single one has had some sort of issue that made me say "This is the last Garmin product I buy". Then new things get released and I buy something like an idiot. A few months later and I'm repeating myself.

Maybe I'm done with Garmin; maybe I'm not. Until I naively buy something else from Garmin, I'd at least like my vivoactive 4 to work properly.

  • I apologize in advance if this feels like I'm pushing too much, but any news on this,  ?

I would imagine that after 9 days there would be some updates. Perhaps not for the actual fix, but for acknowledging there is a problem with the unusual high battery usage when using CIQ faces.

If Garmin's opinion on the topic is that there is no problem with battery and we should report to watch face developers as we were hinted earlier, could you please point out any Garmin CIQ face that we could try?

As said multiple times, watch factory reset does not help. Problem is with the latest SW versions. CIQ faces will never be as battery friendly as native faces, but other watches do not have the same problem and VA4 didn't have this problem before SW 5.10. Thank you.

Hey, can you please try to not charge your watch a quick charger. For me it helped to charge the watch an old iphone 6 charger and keep it a while charging after reaching 100%. Now my watch lasts again up to 9day. (I am a not a power user and mostly use watch only mode, no constant blutooth ..). Just give it a try.

  • I do not see the logic on why battery life with CIQ faces would be affected by the charger type. Anyway, since the battery use does not seem linear, I can give it a go. Couple of things:

    - which CIQ face are you using exactly? Just making sure we are not comparing apples and oranges

    - do you get the 9 days with any GPS activities?

    - does the battery last for more than 9 days (let's say 11 or 12) if you use a stock face?
