Sleep tracking so inaccurate!

I bought the Venu 3s in December, I upgraded from a really ancient Fitbit. The Fitbit was so much better at tracking my sleep! I like the other features I get with the Venu but I’m so disappointed with how much I’ve paid out for something that tells me I’ve been in deep sleep when I know for a fact I was wide awake as I couldn’t get to sleep!

Does anyone think the sleep tracking will improve with updates or should I cut my losses and go back to Fitbit?

  • It works quite well for me (Venu 3 standard) much better than the Samsung Galaxy 5 Pro I was using before, anyway if for you this is so crucial function do not expect a relevant update in such respect, a part from relevant bug fixes Garmin is not pushing big updates on the Venu series.

  • The more important question is why is your sleep tracking the way it is. please contact Garmin Support for assistance. With your permission they can access the date pertinent to figuring out the "Why" and provide the most efficient and detailed assistance

  • Garmin has bad sleep tracking, you're not the only person with same problem. You can see on this forum and other Garmin watches forums that many people asked the same question, but no solution was provided.

You can try with Garmin support but do not have high expectations.

  • Yeah, thanks, I don’t think I’ll bother with support. I’m just really annoyed that I’ve retired a 10 year old Fitbit (with very good sleep tracking) and spent a good chunk of money on a Garmin that can’t even work out when I’m awake never mind what sleep stage I’m in when I do nod off.

  • Exactly the same here. Both my wife and I got Venu 3 and 3S in December. One of my primary reasons for purchase was to help me monitor and better manage my sleep routine. On two consecutive nights with no difference in how I wore and used the watch one night I know I slept moderately well for 7 hours but watch said 4 hours. Next night I know I was awake unable to get to sleep for nearly 3 hours (in 7 hour period) but watch said I was asleep for all 7 hours! What's worse is it said I slept from 11:44, when we didn't turn out the light till midnight!

It is so disappointing and misleading. Waste of money.

  • For those who aren't satisfied with Garmin sleep analysis, have you looked at Oura?

  • Can you give us some reasons why we should?

  • Going to be blunt: Not sure what you folks are doing. You may want to look at how secure your watch is or isn’t. I wore my Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Venu 3 both for a week. The difference in sleep was within a rounding error and within my expectation of accuracy.

  • Compared to my Apple Watch 9, it wasn't the same at all.
