Venu 2 Display Turns Off/Freezes/Crashes After 4.67 SW Update

V 4.67.

I noticed such a thing. The clock turns off by itself when leaving the house in the morning. My sequential steps:
1) wake up
2) I have breakfast
3) I do the synchronization of the clock from the phone
4) take the elevator down
5) get in the car
6) the clock is off.

Seen on all firmwares, incl. and at the last 4.67. And this problem only in the morning - already 5 times this happened!
There is a suspicion of one thing that leads to the shutdown of the clock:
- Morning FORCED synchronization after sleep - occurs exactly after sleep, tk. a new day has begun and garmin connect somehow does not work out this synchronization correctly. If after sleep it is forced not to do synchronization, but just wait for the clock to automatically synchronize itself, then the clock does not turn off during the day!

There are a lot of problems here on the forum that the clock dies and does not turn back on. I think that this is the problem for everyone.

LIFE HACK HOW TO TURN ON THE WATCH BACK:
Hold the power button for 30 seconds, then release it, then hold it again and the clock will turn on.

  • Happened yesterday to me also.. Wanted to check HR graph, it has frozen for a second, then screen went black.

Tried holding buttons, it triggered the emergency message...

Then I couldn't do anything for like 20 minutes, after that it restarted.

    I have no WiFi paired.

  • Same here, 2 times now, no wifi in use

  • Yes, 2 times. Need to hold both buttons for 20 sec. Then push a button to start it again.

    Just frooze when did nothing...

  • No crash since 3 days (!) since i had synchronized with garmin express on windows.

    tomorrow ?

  • Newcomer here to the forum and to smartwatches.  Just to add my experience.  Had the crash/blackout breakfast time one day last week.  Pressed start button for 30 seconds or so and then again briefly.  The familiar blue triangle appeared and all well.  Exactly the same thin 24 hours later.  Since then (7 days) no issues at all...I've no idea why ...but everything working perfectly.  Delighted with the watch despite this hitch.

  • I reached out to support and software fix is coming soon.

  • I found a reproducible way to crash and restart my Venu 2 running 4.67:

    • On the Android phone to which the watch is paired, install the Randomly RemindMe app from James Morris Studios.
    • Have the app display a notification.
    • On the watch, swipe up to show the Notifications glance.
    • The watch restarts immediately, and starts back up quickly.

I have my Notifications glance at the top of the stack. I noticed that if I swipe down to start at the bottom of the stack and slowly scroll to the top, the watch restarts as soon at the Notifications glance starts to appear on the display.

    I don't know what's special about this app's notifications.

    Here's the stack trace:

  • I have forerunner 945 LTE and has similar issues. Watch is restarting even without opening 3rd party apps. When I go to apps menu, watch crashes. For 945 LTE, supported states that I should uninstall 3rd party apps. It does makes up to come extent but an app from Connect IQ store shouldn't cause device to crash. I mean, the watch os should handle these kind of app failures.
