Venu 2 Plus - Sudden Battery Drain

Have had my Venu 2 Plus since last December. Since that time I've had to charge it about every 1 1/2 weeks. Last night, for the very first time, I had a signficant battery drain -- it was at 87% yesterday and close to zero with a warning showing when I woke up this morning. No change in settings. No new apps. Oxygen monitoring is off -- only occasionally use it on demand. Always-on-display is off. No new watch face. In other words, have made no recent changes. I see others have experienced similar problems in the past, but don't see anything recent.

Did those of you that report the problem previously, find a solution. I see where Garmin asked if they could email you or access your account. I did a chat this morning and authorized account access. They found nothing out of the ordinary.

Help! I really like my Venu 2 Plus.

  • I too have similar battery drain, not as drastic as yours, but I charged mine yesterday around 16:00 to 100% and now at 9:20 it is already down to 65%, while until a few days I could easily go 1 1/2 weeks with a charged watch.

  • Do you have firmware 14.10?

  • It shows SW Version 14.10. I assume SW Version is the firmware. By the way, last night, battery drainage was about 7% -- which has been normal. Wonder what was different the previous night. Is it possible that the way I slept on my arm caused some function to drain the battery. I didn't notice that the display was on at any time during the night.

  • I had the same with my Venu 2, firmware version 16.11. Loaded in the morning to around 90%, in the afternoon I found only 20% left. No clue what drained the battery. I had some similar issues earlier, for example finding the watch being switched off when I woke in the morning.

This makes the device very unreliable, how can I trust the alarm in the morning when the battery can be drained so fast?

  • I too am now having this problem. It has happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Last night went to bed at 56% woke up with the device completely dead. Based on when the HRM stopped working seemed that it drained from 56% to 0% in a matter of approximately 4 hr. All incidences happened at night which is particularly annoying since when it shuts down I cannot get sleep tracking information which I am currently trying to carefully monitor. In general, I have noticed that I am charging the watch more frequently. Nothing else has been changed on the device. Any suggestions anyone or updates from Garmin on this issue? I am on SW 17.10.

  • I'm the OP on this thread and have continued to monitor. Have not experienced the battery drain except for the one time that I reported here. No explanation for the anomaly.

  • A few days after I posted my reaction, I received an update, and since all is working perfect.

  • I'm having the exact same issue since downloading a recent update. I'm now only getting about 24 hours out of the battery with moderate use. Previously it would be about 1 week. I'm on SW 17.04 which seems to be latest I can download.

  • Just checked. I have the same update and not having a problem.Fingers crossed

  • Not surprising though, as I get the sense that this is an intermittent issue. At least for the last week I have not had a problem. But it is not giving me much confidence in the device at the moment.
