Android: "No Phone Connection" message displayed on watch despite being paired and connected via Bluetooth

My watch Garmin Venu 2 Plus works great, BUT!

Although the watch is connected (paired) to the phone via bluetooth, it says it is not connected.

For example, synchronization is working, all activities are updated, Im getting notifications and synch with phone is OK. From phone I can send new setting or apps.. etc.. to watch.

BUT I cant use calling or Google assistant. Every time when I invoke this command, watch says: no phone connection...

Can you please help me, what to do? Thank you

  • Do you turn your phone and watch off every day?

  • Stephen, thanks for sharing your story! It's a shame that this is an ongoing issue for many people as this feature (calling using the watch) distinguishes the venu2+ from the venu2. Otherwise we might as well bought the venu2 and save a few bucks.

My experience for the past weeks has been quite similar. I was having an unstable bluetooth connection with the watch, so I had to reconnect every day. Some days, I was able to receive/make calls and some days I wasn't. I couldn't find any relation between my method of making the connection, my phone/smartwatch use and the feature functioning properly or not.

I'm still deciding wheter I keep the watch or swap it for a different model/brand. In any case, I hope the Garmin engineers are able to fix this bug any time soon.

  • SOLVED FOR HAUWEI (and a few others)  NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VOICE ASSISTANT-

    https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=9CDD55lm3a4DcQaNL7yii9&productID=730659&searchQuery=voice%20assistant&tab=topics

I had the same problem with my Hauwei Pro 30.  I had checked that compatibility of the phone before I got the Venu 2 Plus but sadly these features - also the wallet feature, would not work.  After calling this morning is seems yes it is compatible with the fitness ability BUT NOT with the voice, phone etc.  which would have been nice to know in the main compatibility section.  They sent me the link above.
