Android: "No Phone Connection" message displayed on watch despite being paired and connected via Bluetooth

My watch Garmin Venu 2 Plus works great, BUT!

Although the watch is connected (paired) to the phone via bluetooth, it says it is not connected.

For example, synchronization is working, all activities are updated, Im getting notifications and synch with phone is OK. From phone I can send new setting or apps.. etc.. to watch.

BUT I cant use calling or Google assistant. Every time when I invoke this command, watch says: no phone connection...

Can you please help me, what to do? Thank you

    Also have the same problem.

    It is incidentally an outrage that Garmin has not commented for 30 days.

    For what I have again paid the surcharge to the Venu 2 Plus?!

  • This just started happening for me (or maybe it has been longer, I just noticed it two days ago).

    I rebooted my watch and now it connects to the assistant again.

    1. Software version on the watch > 10.18
    2. Running Android 10 on a Huawei P30 Pro EMUI 12.0.0.139
    3. Garmin Connect mobile app version > 4.58.1
    4. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you? > YES
    5. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account? > YES

  • I suspect I've spotted the reason for why this functionality doesn't work for many of us. See Phone Incompatibility List for Voice Assistant Watches - Garmin states "If your phone and Android OS version match one of those listed in the table below, contact your phone manufacturer for assistance. An updated version of Android OS may be available for your phone which may improve or resolve the issue."

    I suspect many of us will need to flag the issue to Huawei to get this matter fixed, rather than Garmin. 

  • This has been an ongoing issue with my Venu 2 Plus, it was working fine the first time I set it up. I can use Google assistant and can receive phone calls from the watch, now, for some reason, I kept getting a No Phone Connection error, and reading this forum, I was not alone in this debacle. I haven't had the time to troubleshoot the issue, but months went by, it did not resolve itself from the watch updates  it's unacceptable. We bought this watch for these other extra elements and it wasn't cheap, pls fix it Garmin!
