Definitely try the new Beta Software (8.05).
I don't have the Venu 2 Plus, but rather the Venu 2, and the last beta firmware fixed exactly what you describe here, and I had with my watch. I went from 3…
I also experienced battery drain and strange drops in battery percentage and decided to monitor it.
After full reset and update to firmware 7.40:
Thursday 27 Jan. 17:00 100%
Monday 31 Jan. 9:55 0%

UPDATE (7Feb)
After a period of high battery drain I reset the watch to full factory settings on 3 Feb. This did not solve the problem. I again reset the watch on 5 Feb before recharging, and then reset…
Actually I'm afraid to update software after I've discovered hack with Power Saver on/off. For now my Venu battery is 15% dead after 3.5 day usage. Estimated battery lifetime from one charge is 20-25 days and I'm totally OK with this. New software could give new problems and leads to finding new solutions or hacks so I'll wait for community feedback.
what version of software are you referring to ?
this software has also issues with Bluetooth..I think this is the main issues...
New venu 2 plus user here.
9.11 software issues with battery drain.
Also, anyone have bluetooth dropouts when playing Spotify through watch to headphones? So bad it's rendering the function useless.
On verge of sending back for refund.
Forerunner 245 connected to Jaybird Vista headphones perfectly.
Garmin-Kevin are you looking into this issues please ?
seems that also the beta has issues

Garmin Venu 2 Plus (V 8.12) Battery Drain seems to be related to Bluetooth settings.
We encourage you to reach out to your local Garmin Support for further information and questions.
...and it's back.
Hi Garmin-Kevin, everything was working fine. And then last night, for no clear reason (I was in between charge cycles, and no changes were made to the settings), the watch switched into high drain mode (just under 5% drain per hour).
Has there been a fix for this yet???
(this is the first time the replacement watch switched over to high drain mode—no changes were made, it just happened)
Mines been fine for a bit, have to make sure I don’t leave the app open on my phone and then forgot to fully close it the other night and that was it. The app just sat in the background on my iPhonend it still drained. I have to always remember to fully close the app. It’s a shame as I want to use more of the watch’s functionality and I can’t. I wanted something more advanced than my Fitbit sense and it’s capable of that but I can’t use it in that way
