Body Fat% is way off

Body Fat% is double what other scales and meters (Omron) even after changing activity level to 10.

    • What device/test are you comparing your Index readings to
      • Dexa scan
    • What does your Index S2 display vs what does your reference device display
      • S2 says around low 20s, Dexa said 35%
    • What is your activity class set to, and is this appropriate for your activity level
      • Activity class 5 and yes

    Device is useless for BF%

    • What device/test are you comparing your Index readings to
      • Body Fat%: Garmin Index S1 reading 9% and S2 read %18 since purchased
      • Activity class 10

    • What device/test are you comparing your Index readings to.
      Reference device is Garmin Index Smart Scale

    • What does your Index S2 display vs what does your reference device display. S2 shows 22.5% and Index Smart shows 11%. 

    • What is your activity class set to, and is this appropriate for your activity level. Activity level 8, which is appropriate.

    Index S1 display 7% fat always, i haven't a reference but 7% is still wrong
    Activity class set (i tried all activity classes)

    in the meanwhile i tried out all activity classes, with all of them i have a body fat of 7%

  • Thank you for the continued discussion about the Index S2. We continue to investigate reports of inaccurate body composition metrics to confirm that the Index S2 is working as designed. One thing to note is that the Index S2 uses updated body composition algorithms than can cause differences in body composition metrics when comparing to the original Garmin Index Smart Scale or other non-Garmin smart scales.     We recommend viewing body composition metrics overtime to determine trends. These trends will let you know if you are moving in the right direction to meeting your weight and fitness goals.

    As of right now, we believe that all the scales we have investigated are working as intended but we will continue to investigate these reports.
