How to Update to 1.07 - Index BPM Software Version 1.07 Now Available

The update of the software for the BPM has been announced but I had to search and thanks to the post that I or anyone could easily miss, I had no idea of how to update the BPM. I would have thought that this needed to be an important part of the post notifying us of the update particularly since the latest manual online says:

Maintenance

  • No firmware update is needed during the service life of this product.
  • On very rare occasions, you might need to reinstall the firmware on the device due to hardware malfunction. In this case, the intended use remains unchanged.
  • Any modification or change to the firmware is prohibited.

My thanks to  who posted this link. The answer on how to update can be found here:

Use the below instructions to update your device.

  1. Remove the Index BPM from the Garmin Connect app.
    1. Open the Garmin Connect App.
    2. Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).
    3. Select Garmin Devices.
    4. Select the device you want to remove.
    5. Select     (top right).
    6. Select Remove Device.
    7. Confirm you want to remove the device.
    8. Remove the device from your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings.
  2. Reset your Index BPM to default settings.  See Resetting the Device for more information.
  3. Remove and re-install the battery door.
  4. Add the Index BPM back to your account by pairing the device with the Garmin Connect app.  See Pairing Your Device with the Garmin Connect App for more information.

Once paired with the Garmin Connect app, your monitor will automatically download any available software updates.

  • After reading this, I tried again and, after the second attempt, the same download step happened and it updated to 1.07. Also in the UK.

  • Great news! Just tried it in The Netherlands and I am also now on 1.07. It showed the ‘download’ screen (a cloud with an downwards arrow and a progress bar) for a few minutes and now it is updated. Seems someone finally flicked the switch at Garmin HQ.

  • Confirmed here in the UK. It took two attempts - don't forget to remove it from your Bluetooth list - but it's now working for us both.

  • Based on today's news here in the forum, I tried to update again. After the first reset, pairing, and entering the WiFi network it looked like the update started. However, the progress bar didn't move and after a few minutes everything ended with an E10 (Timeout) error.
I tried a few more times and the update didn't start at all, like before. I changed several WiFi networks and hotspots, even without a password, but nothing changed.
After about the fifth attempt, the update started, the progress bar ran to completion, then ran one more time, and the BPM turned off.
After switching it on, I already had the new version 1.07.
It wasn't an easy process, but it was successful in the end, so the changes to the servers obviously occurred, and I thank Garmin for that.

  • My assumption was that the first run of the progress bar was the actual download phase, and the second run was the firmware installation, since during the first one, the wifi symbol remained on, and during the second run, it was off, before the final reboot.

  • Can confirm that update is working also in germany, After setting up wifi update starte. Now on version 1.07.

  • Yep, can confirm too (Austria) syncing of second user is also working now!

  • thank you, I just saw this post and was able to update my BPM from 1.05 to 1.07 by following the instructions. I am in the USA.

  • Hello,

I have just bought the device. I live in France, Europe. I cannot get another profile seen by the device. Firmware is 1.06. I have tried several times the update procedure provided in first post but it does not work, any idea how I can trig the firmware update ?

    Thanks

EDIT : j’ai envoyé un email au service client. I’ve sent an email to the Customer service. I think the solution might be quite simple. My guess is the firmware upgrade is not triggable with an IP located in France and garmin needs to fix that.

  • Same for me in germany. Tried 10 times, with different phones. No update, stuck on version 1.06 and no wifi sync
