Edge 840 version 26.17, GPS broken

Hi,

recently I've upgraded firmware on my Edge 840 device to 26.17. Today, when going on a ride I did notice that the device is completely unable to acquire GPS signal. On the map, the position is displayed in a place where it was last used with a blinking "?" sign on the position arrow. There is no recording of the route I took. I tried the following to fix the issue, none did help:

- reboot the device

- connect and sync with Garmin Express

- restore factory settings

Is there any QC when releasing new firmware or is it driven by user reports? There are numerous issues with the software. Now I'm left with a device unable to do the basic, fundamental thing it is meant to do, which is navigation.

    Ack! My 840 device is still unusable. Riding with an older 830.

    Still waiting for a response of Garmin on the support case :-(

    Info from Garmin Support Germany: US development is working on the problem; if a solution is found, they get in touch with the customers.

    Garmin Germany offered an exchange of the 840 unit, pointing out that the same error might occur -> not attractive!

    Funny that apparently a standard approach to a software failure is a hardware exchange.

    Found it a "clever move" from Mrs. Reichhold from the German Support to offer the repeatedly complaining customer :-) the exchange of the device, knowing that this may not be a definitive solution. They simply depend on the development guys in US...

    Obviously, Garmin fears to deliver a firmware directly to a customer, as they did it years ago on download pages (.gcd). I would give it a try to re-run the update a second time...

    Good morning everyone, I received my replacement device last week. It's working fine so far. The firmware was 19.x. I've only updated to 25.x so far. I haven't dared to do anything else yet. I'll wait until after my vacation in Mallorca to update the rest.

    I hope Garmin will have a working firmware after my vacation.

    Hello everyone. I've been experiencing the same symptoms. I've asked Garmin Japan for a free replacement. Version is 24.56 and gps is 11.00.
    The problem was solved, and it was amazing to solve the software problem by hardware exchange

    After not hearing anything from Garmin Germany over two weeks or so, I contacted them again. They then explained that Garmin HQ is not assuming a general problem with their software. Thus, they pointed out that I could accept the offer to get a replacement unit. Not really happy with that due to unknown status of battery in those refurbished units, I received the device yesterday.

    It came with 24.xx and GPS 11.00. Just updated to 26.18 and GPS 13.00. The unit struggled a bit in getting over one GPS intensity bar, but, finally, it made it...!
