Edge 840 version 26.17, GPS broken

Hi,

recently I've upgraded firmware on my Edge 840 device to 26.17. Today, when going on a ride I did notice that the device is completely unable to acquire GPS signal. On the map, the position is displayed in a place where it was last used with a blinking "?" sign on the position arrow. There is no recording of the route I took. I tried the following to fix the issue, none did help:

- reboot the device

- connect and sync with Garmin Express

- restore factory settings

Is there any QC when releasing new firmware or is it driven by user reports? There are numerous issues with the software. Now I'm left with a device unable to do the basic, fundamental thing it is meant to do, which is navigation.

Restoring factory settings should have turned GPS on if it was off, but check that it is turned on anyway. You can swipe down to access the GPS widget, or www8.garmin.com/.../GUID-A867FC6C-71B2-4E42-8FA5-98568D8705D3.html

I did check it during the ride, it was on. Also tried turning it off and on, as well as trying other modes (GPS / GNSS etc). Unfortunately it did not help.

Maybe the device lost it's last position relative to satellites. Try syncing with Germin Express, which pushes the latest ephemeris of the satellites into the device, restart your Garmin in the open field and wait maybe 5 minutes?

Tried this, left the device for ~20 minutes waiting for the GPS fix, unfortunately it did not help.

Same here: after the update yesterday (SW 26.17 as of Feb 14 15:07:28, GPS 13.00), the GPS of my 840 remains dead today, no position found, only 1 bar of 5 green, though switching on/off device and GPS several times, connecting and updating to GarminExpress. Sensors and data recording still working. Bug in firmware?!

I also had this issue, but think I just managed to resolve. From the Edge 840, Went into System... About... then clicked "Reinstall Bundle 26.17"

How did you do that? I don`t have this option "Reinstall Bundle 26.17". In the Garmin or via Garmin express?

Just had a reply on another post, it seems this option is only available if the update did not successfully install. My Edge is still on 26.16, I think the attempted update to 26.17 stopped the GPS from working. Using option Reinstall Bundle 26.17 did not update to 26.17 but did get my GPS working again.

Can someone provide the .gcd file for 26.17 (or previous 26.16).

In former times there was an archive on Garmin sites for the firmware - this does not exist anymore?
