Garmin Edge 840 does not connect to Garmin Express

I just received the device today. It synced with the Garmin Connect on my iPhone automatically and asked for software upgrade. Then I wanted to connect it with Garmin Express on my mac, but it won't find the device. I use the latest Garmin Express 7.24.0.0 and Software version 24.55 on the Garmin 840. I have other Garmin Devices connected to this machine OK, i.e. - Edge 830, Forerunner 920XT, Varia Bike Radar, and Garmin nuvi. All devices work OK via USB. Any idea what can be wrong with the 840?

How to connect the Edge to a Mac PC. (after new release 24.25)
1- Garmin edge off
2- Connect the USB cable to the PC, HOLDING the LAP button. 
3- WAIT at least 20 - 30 seconds until USB MTP MODE appears…

They changed the protocol for the connection in the last update, I haven’t been able to connect mine to the Mac since. :-(

Try forcing an update of Garmin Express.

Yes, you are probably right. I guess we need to wait until they update the Garmin Express version.

I re-installed from the web, but it shows the same exact version number. Probably need to wait until they release an update.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the link is not very helpful, because it suggests that Garmin Express should work, but it clearly does not work for me. The link does not provide any troubleshooting details.

I'm able to connect to my Mac again after updating from 24.55 to 25.24. I triggered the update from the 840's system settings or by syncing with my phone.

It's not working for me. I have 25.24 installed. When I connect it to my mac, it shows a charging screen with an "eject" icon on the screen, but Garmin Express cannot find the device.

Same issue. I can no longer connect my Garmin Edge 840 Solar to my computer or Garmin Express. Neither recognize the device. And, as other have stated, it shows as charging with the "eject" icon in the lower right corner.
