Edge 840 freezes after ejection from Garmin Express

Hey!

After I do anything in Garmin Express with my 840 and once done right-click on it to eject it, the devices freezes in the screen you see below. Only thing that helps is to force a restart.... Latest Garmin Express and Firmware (19.22) on device installed.

I tried a complete reset as well already, but the behavior stays the same. Anyone has the same issue or has an idea what I could try?

Hi! Same issue here! Very annoying since if I leave It plugged It shows xy% for all the time It stands frozen. So when I force restart Is almost 0% cause display takes Energy. So a stupid issue for such…

Hi. I have that from time to time too (not every time). Some previous version of the software was supposedly going to fix this, but I guess as you can see they didn't quite fix it.

Thanks, so at least I'm not the only one...very annoying! Hope there'll be a fix soon...happens for me EVERY time!

Hi Marc, You might want to try uninstalling and re-installing the map on Express. If you plug the edge into the computer, open express and select "manage maps", uncheck your currently installed maps and select "apply". Then unplug the edge and it will restart. Plug it back in and then go to manage maps and select the maps again > apply. Please note this can take up to 1-2 hours depending on your map and internet.

Happens to me too, every time! Must be possible to fix this with an update.. Uninstall and install maps seems to stupid to me!

The same problem with my 840. In most cases when disconnecting form PC, the device freezes. I then have to hold down the power button to restart. Very annoying.

Same problem on Intel MacBook Pro Big Sur. Supremely annoying, especially after it was presumably fixed in a previous update. At least I'm no longer getting the "missing basemap" message.

Please try this to see if it completes the startup process:

Disable the phone connection and wifi on the edge.
Connect the Edge to a PC.
Delete the contents of the NewFiles, RemoteSW, and Activities (make sure your activities are showing on your connect account) folders.
Disconnect the Edge from the PC.
