Open Connect App on your phone and press the device icon at the top of the summary page. On the next page select your device (if its not there it needs to be paired). On the next page press the sync button at the top (blue circle with arrows). This will sync your device before you end your activity. After syncing check that Intensity minutes, etc have been registered and then end and save your activity. The second sync should happen as normal and transfer across the rest of the ride data such as speed, time, etc. Hope that helps.
Thanks for figuring this out. Not being critical of you. Having to pull out the phone at the end of a ride, go through app machinations, then finally end/sync the ride on the device is the tedious part. And, this necessitates you have your phone with you set to go. So, thought it gets the job done, it's a PITA and Garmin should fix it.
I have an outstanding case with Garmin which has been dragging on for a few weeks now. They're fully aware of this situation but don't hold your breath. It should have been dealt with months ago and I don't understand why it hasn't been sorted already.
