Poor gps recept edge 830

My edge 830 Has the badest gps reception I have ever had in a Garmin system. When I'm in the forest and measuring twice with my fr920xt and the 830 the edge shows half the segments in Strava then the 4 year old forerunner. All Garmin's have the actual fw and GPS and glonass is configured with 1 s data interval

I also think that the reception has become worse in contrast to the 820. I often drive through a forest where he loses the reception. The 820 had no problems there.

Possible give the Beta 3.33 with new GPS Beta Firmware a try

I am on beta 3.33 and using GPS+Galileo; GPS tracking trough London is horrible, I can see that the GPS is doing its own things just looking at the Edge 830's screen, while on the bike.

Anyone else seeing this?!!!

Did you update the GPS version to 2.42 when you updated the firmware to 3.33?

I agree. While GPS is quite fine during road rides outside the city, in a forest is very, very poor. I was using navigation to follow a course of the local MTB marathon (100% of the track in the forest), and I spent more time searching for correct path, constantly missing a turn, than enjoying the ride. I was using both GPS+GLONASS and later switched to GPS+GALILEO (1 sec recording) with not much different results.

3.33 beta firmware with 2.41 GPS software version

Definitely Garmin still needs to work on the new GPS chipset optimization if it is suppose to be useful for MTB, especially that they included in the device some extra features targeted at MTB riders.

GPS of the Edge 830 is totally rubbish compared to a tiny device like my MARQ Expedition.

I just did a 14k bike ride with both- the Edge lost connection 4 times compared to 0 for the MARQ.

This would happen every single time I passed under an obstacle- big or small. I have noticed this issue before but hadn't had it happen 4 times..
