Same TBT issue as the 820

Hey everybody,

First real ride with my new 830 , first 40 km outstanding, everything I was missing on the 820 was working on the new toy !

But after 40 km (just like with the 820) I miss a turn and went out of the route... and ... no more TBT, guidance finish, on top my home street and Km to go: the total distance !!!

I will put the "Nickdodo distance" on my next track and hope it will do the same as on the 820 (I will try to found back the very, very long post about that subject into the 820 forum).

Hopefully Garmin do not wait one year before they give us a firmware that fixed that problem just like with the 820 .

Else it's look to be a fantastic machine !!!

Not one issue, made huge out of road, made a little stop when I cross a friend, another out of road, perfect !!! let's cross finger…

those are two I participate a little , I did not yet found the post with the firmware who resolved definitely the problem

Does your route return all the way back to the stat point? If so move the end point back 500 yards and try it again.

I have this problem on my 800 and I had hoped that this would be one of the issues that is fixed with the 830. All of my club routes start and end at the same place and I can't easily change the hundreds of courses. So what everyone with a Garmin has to do is start the route 500 meters into the ride. Not much fun starting out with the group fidgeting with their computers...

one day Garmin will give us an update that, just like the 820, resolve the issue,

but indeed, like you say, I do not understand why this is not yet done, they must know how they found the solution in the past

Well at least they pushed a fix for the 820. I've had my 800 for years and it was never fixed.

I don't get that. I have this issue each and every time that I start my ride from the parking lot. Sometime it asks if I want to navigate to the start and then I have distance to next = to the total distance and it clocks down from there. But the TBT stops working. If I say no, then after a few hundred meters it tries to route me back to the start.

If I wait 1/2 km to start navigating, this doesn't happen. Garmin support recommended not having the start/end point the same but these are club courses, mostly created with RideWithGPS and they all naturally start and end in the same place.

In fact there is another problem then with the 820, yesterday (this was not the first time) I have twice that the 830 freeze for about 10' ,next turn and distance to end do not move, in the meantime the arrow follow the trace correctly, after a while everything becomes OK with the right info ... I have planned the route's with RWGPS and Nickdodo distance
