Turning off weather

Does anyone know how to successfully disable the Weather setting in the iOS Connect app EDGE 530 settings?

Toggling the available switch seen in the image below will simply return to being On again on next launch of the app.

Whenever I ride, my phone battery drains a whole lot since the Connect app does something in the background while cycling.

I don't use the flaky Live Track.

I have turned off Background App refresh on the phone, yet, when I cycle I have the phones battery monitor display Connect App using a high amount of Background activity. ‍

Short of completely denying the app any location data, I'm a bit lost for possible solutions.

The most nuclear solution is to remove the EDGE from connect mobile and just leave the BLE bluetooth connection for Notifications to continue working. Just side step this terrible app completely.

So I have an 820 not a 530 but those annoyed me too. In my case I just deleted the Accuweather IQ app from the 820 and even though GC on the phone still says to send weather alerts I never get any

Based on a comment in one of the posts above I will try:

Settings -> System -> Widget Management -> turned off Notifications and Segment Explore

Basically, what happens is I keep disabling Weather Alerts in the IOS Connect App. The Weather Alerts will stay disabled, until the device is turned back on. At which point Weather Alerts get re-enabled in the App. Then if I turn the alerts back off, re-sync, alerts will be off for that power cycle, but then get re-enabled when the 530 is turned back on. BTW, running latest IOS Connect version with latest 530 SW.

"Kurt" from Garmin Customer support is creating a case for this issue. Said he doesn't put much stock in issues reported in the public facing forums.
