Intensity Min not updated with Edge. COME ON!

So, I just learned that my Edge 530 does not add to my IM in Garmin Connect.  Seriously?  Come on Garmin!

I just got the Fenix 6s.  Man, love this watch.  But, there is no way I am wearing this while doing my rides.  Which, apparently is the ONLY way to get IM "credit" for anything.  This is a programming issue, and I saw some posts about this from 9 months ago.

Garmin:  Yes, we LOVE your devices.  We spend TOP dollar on them vs. anything else.  The most important thing tho, is the ECO system.  Garmin Connect needs to be an accurate hub for all that we do.  I am not a runner, or pro tennis player, or cyclist...  I AM ALL OF THEM!  I saw Garmin responded in one thread saying:

"The Edge devices just dont support IM"

Some needed to say (am I will say it here)  THEN FIX IT!  FIX IT, FIX, IT!   Get a dev. on this now.  Its not rocket science.  Everything should be all synced and added together in Garmin connect across ALL devices.

As it stands, I need a note pad and paper to figure out my IM and thats silly with over $2K in hardware with all the sensors and accessories I have.

COME ON!

  • So I just got a new Edge 530 and I have the same problem. I should have checked this before buying the computer. Even if I wear my watch while doing my workouts, the HR-strap is connected to the Edge unit så the watch stops measuring HR from the wrist! The Edge unit records the HR for all bike activities så the app should be able to count that in to the total Intensity minutes.

  • I wish I had seen your post before I bought one.

  • I just was insecure when I read this post and checked the behaviour of my Edge530, cause I replaced my Edge130 with it, that I get rid of using my Fenix 5 Plus on the bike for improved navigation and training effect.

But my Ede530 syncs the IM correctly to Garmin connect and the Fenix 5 Plus. But I see differences in the training load, there's always a small gap between Edge and Fenix.

  • Edge530 does not support IM by itself, you must have some kind of other device with IM support, for example HRM-Pro chest strap ...

  • I use a Polar H9 chest strap which is not connected to the Garmin connect app. And I was not recording with the Fenix.

I just read the support article about it and as you mentioned it, it shouldn't work. But I had IM recording with each ride I've done with my Edge 530 so far. But I use the JMG-DTF Cycling VO2 Max widget on the Edge.

I tried to insert a screenshot, but the image file is blocked by the browser.

Or just the F5 sitting idle on your wrist. You don't have to start an activity on the F5 for it to accumulate intensity minutes, so for example if you record an activity with your edge, and do not record it on the F5, but still keep it on your wrist, then you still get intensity minutes.

  • Ok, thanks for the explanation. So I was thinking about leaving my Fenix at home when I go for ride, but so I've to wear it.

  • Bumping this two years later…

  • Did you find an alternative? I'm about ready to ditch the Garmin ecosystem at this point. I daily wear a Pheonix 6 and use and edge 530 on my MTB rides. The fact that 90% (in this case the activity minutes) of the health stats won't merge data from the two devices makes this ecosystem such a joke.

  • No, I guess options even got fewer:
