Touchscreen freezes 1050

First ride witth the new 1050.

TouchScreen totaly freezes for complete ride. Even when powered of and on several times.

No reaction or whatever  with gloves off.

Taken of the mount in home everything seems te be allright temperature outside was 4 degrees above freezing point

Didnt have this with the 1040 solar, 1030 and the older models.

What tofdo now?

  • Contacted Garmin and asked them how things were going with my case, which was created april 4th 2025.
Garmin responded with the proposal to exchange the 1050.
Does anyone have experience with that ?

  • I have exchanged mine, came last week. Plan to put it in the fridge over the next day or so. I believe someone on this thread did exchange there’s and it did resolve the problem

  • I have done the fridge-test before.
With only low temperature the problem did not occur, but with low temperature in combination with high humidity it did.

  • Mine was the one that was exchanged this past winter.  The new one still has the problem just not as guaranteed as my original.  My original was 100% of the time when sub freezing  it would happen. My new one is like 70% of the time. However since it is warm now it has been flawless.

Sorry I gave up on updating this thread since it got derailed by every other problem with the 1050 other then the intended.

  • After my ride two weeks ago, where the screen froze in +20ºC (almost as soon as it turned on battery saving), I contacted Garmin and they have now said they'll exchange it, so have sent me the details to return my 1050 to them via UPS, which I did on Tuesday.

Now the next problem, UPS have so far not picked up the package from the collecton point after two days, so I called today and they are now investigating, so who knows how longs this will now take to resolve.

  • Returns/exchanges for purchase on Garmin site only? Asking since I've bought mine at a bike shop

  • In the UK up to 30 days you can get a refund, and after that and up to 6 months you can go to the shop to arrange for the repair / replacement.  But, it's probably quicker just to go direct to Garmin at that point though.

Just received my replacement 1050 this morning, so credit to Garmin there on a quick turn around of just 3 days once they had received it.
