Touchscreen freezes 1050

First ride witth the new 1050.

TouchScreen totaly freezes for complete ride. Even when powered of and on several times.

No reaction or whatever  with gloves off.

Taken of the mount in home everything seems te be allright temperature outside was 4 degrees above freezing point

Didnt have this with the 1040 solar, 1030 and the older models.

What tofdo now?

  • I second that ! 2 totally different issues.

The freezing problems already occured with some 1040 units, it's not something new.

With the 1050 and this thread, it's the unresponsive touchscreen under low temperature that is reported here. So it's kind of misleading for everybody to talk about freezing units here. Please make a new thread!

  • I am using the Garmin Edge 1050. After updating to version 13.13, the touchscreen started behaving erratically on its own. I have performed several factory resets, removed all IQ apps, and even deleted the maps, but the issue still persists. Over time, the frequency of this problem has increased to the point where the device is nearly unusable.

When this issue occurs, the touchscreen does not respond properly to my touch, and it continuously registers phantom touches on a specific area of the screen. If I press the power button to turn off the display and turn it back on again, it works correctly for a few seconds, but the problem quickly returns.

Even when I lock the screen during an activity, I receive random "Touch detected" messages as if the device is being touched on its own.

I am extremely disappointed that a device at this price point delivers such poor quality. I have been using Garmin products for over 10 years, but it’s clear that the basic software stability of this device is severely lacking.

  • I expect better. Third ride with new 1050 (FW13.13) and up to now perfect. Started getting low on battery today so went to Battery Saver Mode... freeze after freeze after freeze with the only way of un-freezing by doing a long press of the power button. And what's more, despite navigation still working, the second part of my ride after my mid-ride stop was a straight line to the end of the ride. Distance and elevation correct though but no HR/Power or Cadence recorded despite me having seen these displayed on the screen.

By the way - cool to warm conditions today (not cold).

One of my reasons for delaying getting an Edge 1050 was so that Garmin had ironed out stupid issues like this.

Garmin - time to get this sorted.
