  • Thanks for your feedback. Do I have your consent to contact you externally via email?

We are continuing to investigate these reports would like to gather more details about your experience that we would not ask you to post publicly.

  • Hi,

You have my consent of course ! If we can get this sorted out without sending back the units for days / weeks, it would be great ! Even if I don't place too much hope into this last part !

    Thanks

  • Thanks for your feedback. Unexpected reboots and touch screen performance should be unrelated and this sounds like a different error. I do not expect cold weather would cause the device to reboot (Operating temperature range From -20º to 60ºC) but as many details as you can provide would help out.

I would suggest beginning a new thread with your experience regarding unexpected reboots, or reaching out to the local support team for your region to discuss solutions.

  • As far as I'm concerned it's not a rebooting issue. It's a intempestive screen freezing / inoperative / unresponsive screen that happens EVERYTIME in cold temperatures (around 0 - 5°C) with or without gloves.

This unit just doesn't work in the cold.

I've reached out with Garmin in France but they don't bring anything to the table except trying to reset the device ...

    1. Great to hear. I seem to be having the same issue with my 1050 unit as well. Had a 10-25% success rate with finger/screen interactions on my rides in the past few weeks. I took off the screen protector in a bout of frustration during today’s ride to see if that would help, but didn’t notice any improvement. Conductive gloves or bare hands had the same result, and temperature outside has been around 1°C. When I brought the unit indoors for a coffee partway through todays ride and at the end of the ride it became much easier to interact with the touchscreen. While I was riding outside before and after coffee I had the same difficulties with the screen. Thanks for your work on this topic! Cheers
  • Update : I finally was able to get out on a ride, and I just finished. I had zero touchscreen freezes on this ride, but it did get a little laggy at one point, but it was only for a short time, and it was not super noticeable. I may not have even noticed if not for this ride being mainly a 1050 test ride. This was only the first test, so im tempering my excitement, but it was a good outcome for this ride. I will update again if I have any further issues. Feel free to comment or DM me any questions.

The outside temp was 31°f with a "real feel" of 20°f and ~16mph wind. The ride was just under an hour long.

  • Thanks for the feedback! Did you use any gloves or bare hands ?

  • Sorry, I have just seen your reply. Yes please feel free to reach out to me via email.

  • Was this the new unit and or software update?
