Touchscreen freezes 1050

First ride witth the new 1050.

TouchScreen totaly freezes for complete ride. Even when powered of and on several times.

No reaction or whatever  with gloves off.

Taken of the mount in home everything seems te be allright temperature outside was 4 degrees above freezing point

Didnt have this with the 1040 solar, 1030 and the older models.

What tofdo now?

  • The other issue was the edge gap on the left side which also seems to be a common issue

  • I think I can second the observation, that the Garmin 1050 might have problems with low temperatures. I bought my 1050 on December 27 in Germany, My 1050 worked flawlessly for about 1.5 weeks and then developed problems, not with freezing touchscreen (during rides I mostly use the Garmin remote control), but with frequent reboots. The reboots happened during navigation, during activities without navigation, and during normal user interface interactions, like saving an activity or doing some configurations.

Looking back I can correlate the beginning of the problems with decreasing outdoor temperatures around 0 degrees and below. My 1050 worked well with outdoor temperatures of 5 degrees celsius and above. Also indoors, I had no problems with the device when making various setups or looking for locations.

  • Mine is also flawless for everything other then in cold temps. Garmin seems to be on top of this and actively trying to correct the problem so I am hopefull that it will be corrected. I love my 1050 and am extremely happy with it.....other then in cold weather which is a big bummer.
