There was that effectiveness in the peddle itself that needed to be clicked to “on”:.

Garmin and Favero are similar. In fact, Garmin invented the Cycling Dynamics then gave it to ANT+ to be included in the ANT+ feature so any manufacturer could use it as a member of ANT+. 

The button to turn on the TE, or torque effectiveness, won't be visible unless your garmin 530 is on and has recognized your pedals which must also be on and paired. Otherwise, the button to turn on TE will no be seen.

But not important to help the person who wants to know how to Turn on TE.  It is interesting that Garmin seems to be consolidating many innovators into their cabal much like the recent acquisition of First Beat Analytics. 

You're the one who mentioned they invented cycling dynamics, which isn't relevant either. I'm just pointing out they didn't then "give" it to ant+, they added it to a protocol which they own. No charity involved
