BUG: Crank based power meter Inpeak disconnecting from ANT+

I'd like to report a bug with ANT+ connection of crank based power meter from Inpeak. I noticed frequent dropouts during todays ride. Most of the ride was without any power and cadence data displayed. There were also frequent notifications about found power meter.

Garmin is configured completely from zero without any synchronization from older 820 model. There are also no additional CIQ apps installed with exception of Komoot.

My ANT+ connected devices are: Inpeak powermeter, Garmin HRM dual, Bontrager ION PRO and Bontrager Flare RT. All except powermeter worked fine with one connection problem from Ion light but that also was happening on older Garmin Edge.

At home I tried to change powerneters connection from ANT+ to BLE and it seems to show better stability but it isn't tested yet while riding.

  • The 18.23 release does address the issue that INPEAK customers were experiencing.  There was a problem in determining the appropriate RF frequency which was impacting certain groups of ANT sensors.  We apologize to those customers impacted, and appreciate the assistance in resolving the issue.

  • Thank you very much for solving the problem. It is a pity that our common customers suffered the most, because it lasted over a year.

    I consider the thread closed.

  • Bad partnership,

I lost months and money on this and had to change powermeter.

  • We intervened to Garmin from the very beginning when we noticed the problem. Unfortunately, Garmin did nothing about it. It is not our fault. We are very sorry that customers were giving up on our devices instead of Garmin devices.

  • I don't care whose fault it is...

I lost money that I won't get back I trusted compatibility as it was written on your website (and I have screenshots of compatibility with the 1040 later you changed it given the problems) I have sent the powermeter back at my expense to change the ANT+ ID without solving the problem, after this I was abandoned by INPEAK  and Garmin.
It is clear that one person replaces the least expensive component in this case the POWERMETER.

    Best Regards

  • I am one of the people who intended to buy your equipment and as a result of information about probable problems decided to buy equipment from another company. I think you lost a lot of money because of this.
In my opinion, since both devices operate on one communication standard, they MUST work properly - that's what the standard is for.
However, as for the choice: Garmin or Inpeak, I think that first people buy Garmin and then the power meter, so you are the most affected.
Shame on Garmin that the problem dragged on for so long.
This situation confirms my negative opinion about this company and its software.

  • Why doesn't it matter whose fault it is? Inpeak made the software correctly, tried to solve the problem that was on the side of Garmin.
I understand that you are bitter about the situation and the loss of money.
However, you should judge the situation soberly.
I doubt that Inpeak and Garmin have an official cooperation. It also shows how a large company treats a smaller one.

  • Therefore, we inform our current and future customers about the facts regarding the stability of operations. We do our job to the best of our ability and are not influenced by the mistakes of others. For people affected by the problem, we released a patch that temporarily fixed the problem. They will soon get an update restoring the default ANT+ ID number. I consider the topic closed.
