BUG: Crank based power meter Inpeak disconnecting from ANT+

I'd like to report a bug with ANT+ connection of crank based power meter from Inpeak. I noticed frequent dropouts during todays ride. Most of the ride was without any power and cadence data displayed. There were also frequent notifications about found power meter.

Garmin is configured completely from zero without any synchronization from older 820 model. There are also no additional CIQ apps installed with exception of Komoot.

My ANT+ connected devices are: Inpeak powermeter, Garmin HRM dual, Bontrager ION PRO and Bontrager Flare RT. All except powermeter worked fine with one connection problem from Ion light but that also was happening on older Garmin Edge.

At home I tried to change powerneters connection from ANT+ to BLE and it seems to show better stability but it isn't tested yet while riding.

pszemson If you are able to see some ANT+ sensors function without issues, then you are not experiencing the same thing as other users who are using CIQ data fields.

I would recommend trying to test this on a ride with the BT connection to see if there is any change. If you are seeing multiple sensors function, with only the Power Meter seeing dropouts, then there is likely something going on with the power meter itself.

I was riding very recently with my old Edge 820 and experienced no problems with ANT+ dropouts.

I can try to perform a test with both devices connected and get back to you in the coming days.

Garmin-Blake, I performed a test riding with two computers today. Results are as expected - everything worked fine on Edge 820 and 1040 is loosing connection all the time.

Same for me. Inpeak crank power meter not working in ANT mode. Sometime Edge sees it through ANT, but is droping signal quickly (cadence not working atvall). In BT mode power meter is working normally.

I tried contacting Inpeak and this is their response:

PL: Niestety nie - po naszej stronie nie widzimy problemu, żaden z klientów nie zgłaszał nam problemów, całość łącznosci jest również zgodna z wymogami certyfikacji ant+ oraz ble. Ciężko nam się odnieść do tego wpisu gdyż stosowane częstotliwości są jasno i precyzyjnie zdefiniowane i do tych norm się stosujemy.

EN: Unfortunately, no - we do not see a problem on our side, none of the clients reported problems to us, all connectivity is also compliant with the ant + and ble certification requirements. It is difficult for us to refer to this entry because the frequencies used are clearly and precisely defined and we adhere to these standards.

I hoped for a little bit more cooperation between Inpeak and Garmin.

I sent my edge 1040 and my powermeter to Inpeak. They found out that problem occurs when powermeter has "0" in ant id. They changed ant id in my device and it fixed all problems. I will be testing soon.

Thanks for the update. That sounds like a manufacturing/software error as no ANT sensor should have an ID of 0.

it wasn't only 0 but 0 was a part of a ant id number
