Ride Sync over Bluetooth doesn’t work (eBike Data)

Hi,

I’ve got a problem with my new Edge 1040. 

When I end and save a ride it doesn’t sync to Garmin Connect if I’m connected to the iPhone with Bluetooth. It works only with Wi-Fi and even in that case I have to force the synchronization. 

The Edge connects fine with the iPhone and syncs everything except the rides!!!

I tried to reset the device but nothing has changed. 

Does anyone have a solution or some suggestions to try?

It’s so frustrating…. and every time the same with new devices…

  • same config, I have beta 14.14
    Will try again tomorrow. 

  • Mines gotten better, originally it wouldn’t sync at all.  I turned off Wi-Fi as suggested here, and once I’m done with a ride I open the Garmin Connect app in my phone and click the sync button from the app and then it updates, pretty much always in the first attempt.

    its not ideal as it’s not auto-syncing like my 1030 did, but at least I know how to force it through without wanting to fling the device into the street. 

    Beta 14.14, iPhone 12 Pro with iOS16 (Beta).

  • Went for a 43 mile ride this morning and when I got home, I checked Garmin Connect on my iPhone and my ride had synced.  Didn't do anything extra or special on my edge 1040 to get it there - it just showed up on my phone.  Beats me how it did it....

  • There have been a couple of updates to IOS connect app, mine seems to be syncing fine now

  • Unfortunately, this isn't something new with the 1040 series.  I've had this problem for as long as I can remember, 1030+, 1030, 1000, 8xx.  Turning off the wifi has always fixed it.

  • Wow turning off wifi really helps. It works now as it should from the beginning...

  • It fixes all sync issues ... syncing completed rides, workouts, calendar, etc...

  • I have the same problem. It (Garmin 1040)  does not automatically sync my activities to mobile Garmin Connect. Only at home with the wifi network i was able to upload the activities.

    I have also a Garmin 945 and that works totally fine. In the Garmin Connect app on the top, there is a picture of the 945 and and literally I see the activities uploading or when not, I can use refresh. But even though the garmin edge is connected, I don't see an image of the edge at the top anywhere. But also manual synchronization does not work.   Ok, maybe I try turning off wifi completely next time... Maybe that helps.

  • Mine had been working and then stopped again.. No matter what combo of Wifi or Bluetooth off/on, the only way I can sync is via cable to my PC now.   So frustrating.
