Strava Segments not syncing Edge 1040

I cannot get my Strava starred segments or courses  to sync on my Garmin Edge 1040 Solar.  I upgraded from a 530 to the 1040 Solar (had no issues with 530 and segments) and always see the same "Sign into your Strava account using your Garmin Connect account" via the segments widget. I am signed in and see "segments" widget on my web-based connect dashboard with my starred Strava segments. In the garmin connect app I see that segments are also enabled.  Anyone else have the same problem?

I have tried these things....

1. Disconnected Strava from Garmin and reconnected (on Strava's website) 

2. Disconnected Garmin from Strava and reconnected (via Garmin connect profile) 

3. Added new segments in Strava to hopefully force a sync (unsuccessful ) 

4. Tried syncs with Phone 

5. Tried syncs via Garmin express via USB-C Connector. 

  • I have certainly had segments appear as upcoming opportunities but not on planned routes … I don’t think that’s contributing to the ones on the route not displaying through. 

  • As a chronicler, I indicate that today for the test, during the ride, I starred on Strava several segments after the expected route of activity, before the activity I did (to be sure) synchronization. I also checked in the "SLS" section whether these segments are present. Former.
    As I approached them, the "SLS" screen was displayed correctly.
    I will have to check (on Wednesday) if "SLS" will be displayed if I do not follow the trail of the route created in Strava.

    And, of course, there is the issue of the limit of 99 segments, but in this matter my colleague declared contact with Garmin's support.

  • So to follow up on the GC and Edge only showing 100 starred segments. This is currently a limitation that Strava has imposed on the integration.

  • So in this situation, it's some kind of childish translation of Garmin.
    Why?
    Well, Wahoo has NEVER had a limit on SLS. I personally had over 700 (seven hundred) segments in "Elemnt" then in "Roam" and I can assure you that they worked.
    The same translation that Strava imposes a limit was presented by Hammerhead in his "Karoo2". I recorded a video with the amount of SLS in Wahoo counters because Hammerhead support did not believe that another producer had no limit;)

    At the next firmware update "Karoo2" got unlimited SLS :)

    So, Garmin is, to put it mildly, slightly smoking its customers in the SLS range.
    It looks very faint, very faint :(

  • I don't blame you my friend.
    I was hoping that Garmin would get a grip after your ticket (just like Hammerhead used to) and get along with Strava.

  • I think I've noticed this on my last ride. I've had loads of issues with segments until I did the whole reset thing and they now work. However.. last night I passed a segment and didn't complete it. I then carried on to another segment and this didn't display. I'm guessing the issue you've suggested is valid and it no longer shows segments past that missed segment.

  • I got the same issue. I upgraded from the 530 to the 1040 solar. I know got random segments on my device and the ones I got starred on Strava only sync 4 of them. I had to also delete very old segments I use to have about 2 years ago which seem to be syncing. I have done everything mentioned in this thread and honestly it just irritates me. I just want this to work, easier said then done! 

  • Is there a fix for this? i got my 1040 for a week and can't get this to work... i REALLY DONT want to reset everything again, since i am finally at a point where other stuff works
