Bug: Losing all sensor connections

Today, i became the new Garmin Edge1040,

so I configured it, properly. Connect all my sensors (HRMpro, Quarq Powermeter, Garmin Speedsensor2 ) and started to do a nice hilly ride..

but after a few meters, he lost all connections. Sometimes during the entirely ride, he find them again, for a few seconds.

Parallel to the edge 1040 I used the new Forerunner to wrote the sensordata. It works without Problems.

Sensor connections to the Forerunner 955 Ant+, to the Edge Bluetooth.

Firmware 12.11 it looks it‘s a early early beta.

Very sad experience, to play the beta tester for such a device…

I have firmware 14.20 installed and I am still not able to connect to an ant+ powermeter 4iiii precision 3. I also activated ant TX RX, didn‘t help. I will claim a defect and get rid of the garmin 1040. Hopefully wahoo can do better.

Just updated Garmin Connect on iPhone to make sure I have got the actual version.

Base menu:

The three dots on the upper right side only give me a remove device option.

Inside menu System:

Where can I enroll for the beta program? The link you provided contains a way to enroll that my version of Garmin connect does not provide.

The option to enroll is available online and not in the mobile app. I apologize for this confusion, and we will update our Wiki to clarify.

Ok, no problem. I enrolled for the beta program. I synched the edge with Garmin connect on iPhone. I did the WLAN-sync. I restarted the edge and did both syncs again. But I still have firmware 14.20. How do I get a beta version that fixes the connection issues?

I found the download page under

but the newest version is 14.12.

I assume that the installed official version 14.20 contains all features of the beta version 14.12. Am I correct or is it worth installing the beta?

try it via Garmin express on the computer via usb cable

It seems to work. I will have to do a longer ride to confirm.

Steps to get the workaround working:

Enroll in beta program
Install Garmin Express (this step is missing in other described solutions)
Connect Edge 1040 to PC and get the beta firmware

This is fine for now. But I expect this to be fixed before soon in the stable firmware branch.

There is mention in the announcement here that there can be a slight delay if you only sync with GCM.

Garmin Express will be the quickest way to get any update that your device is eligible for, but it is not required. Just passing this along for others that may have a similar experience.
