Bug: Losing all sensor connections

Today, i became the new Garmin Edge1040,

so I configured it, properly. Connect all my sensors (HRMpro, Quarq Powermeter, Garmin Speedsensor2 ) and started to do a nice hilly ride..

but after  a few meters, he lost all connections. Sometimes during the entirely ride, he find them again, for a few seconds.

Parallel to the edge 1040 I used the new Forerunner to wrote the sensordata. It works without Problems.

Sensor connections to the Forerunner 955 Ant+, to the Edge Bluetooth.

Firmware 12.11 it looks it‘s a early early beta.

Very sad experience, to play the beta tester for such a device…

  • same problem connecting and disconnecting for a 67mile ride. came home read this thread and uninstalled all iq apps and fields. did a shirt test but all seems to be working fine now.

  • Same issue here. I have the 1040 with the following sensors;

    - Garmin remote (unstable)

    - Garmin headlight (unstable)

    - Varia RTC715 (unstable)

    - AXS Red power meter, etc

    - Wahoo Armband HRM

Remote and lights noticeably disconnect,  then reconnect, then disconnect again.

  • Hi all,

I say this thread after posting a similar experience on another thread. I also had "mapdashboard" installed which appears to casue the issue with the dropped sensors. I removed mapdashboard and my issues with sensor connections was resolved.

    Thanks,

    Kurt

  • Same problem for me today. Installed 2 CIQ apps yesterday and the 1040 couldn't stay connected to any sensor for more than 15 seconds. Tried rebooting on the fly but no improvement. Quite frustrating given I was riding with a former world champ and TdeF winner...

  • It seems that we all need to wait , unfortunately, for the proper garmin update to let the CIQ work properly on our 1040 devices... Hopefully Garmin sort it out quickly!!

  • Does the old way of doing logging work?

Battery Saver Mode must be turned off before following the steps below

From the Menu of the device scroll down and select Settings

    Scroll down and select System

    Select Display

    Disable Auto Brightness

From the display settings, highlight and select Brightness

    Long press the Lap button

    Select Diagnostics

    Select ANT Logging

    Enable ANT RX TX

Go for another ride with the same sensors and phone connected

Save the ride when you are done

  • I can confirm I had same with any+ and be sensors disconnecting. After alot of trouble shooting with removing and adding individual sensors, I found issue was with install of ciq app sphgraph. Removed this data field even though not in use and all was good. Sensors connected and reliable.

  • To enable ANT+ logging, follow these instructions.

    • Start an activity on your Edge

    • Tap the screen. This will open a grey overlay page

    • Press and hold the right arrow at the bottom of the overlay page for 5 seconds

    • Select Fitness Logging > ANT RX TX

    • ANT Logging is now enabled and ready for the next ride

    • Tap on the back arrow on the bottom-left until you reach the grey overlay screen again

    • Stop the current activity on the Edge and discard

    • Start a new Activity with the same sensors and phone connected

    • Save the activity when you are done

  • I've done the same, I've removed the CIQ data fields until Garmin sorts this out
