Bug: Losing all sensor connections

Today, i became the new Garmin Edge1040,

so I configured it, properly. Connect all my sensors (HRMpro, Quarq Powermeter, Garmin Speedsensor2 ) and started to do a nice hilly ride..

but after  a few meters, he lost all connections. Sometimes during the entirely ride, he find them again, for a few seconds.

Parallel to the edge 1040 I used the new Forerunner to wrote the sensordata. It works without Problems.

Sensor connections to the Forerunner 955 Ant+, to the Edge Bluetooth.

Firmware 12.11 it looks it‘s a early early beta.

Very sad experience, to play the beta tester for such a device…

  • I have exactly the same problem, without ConnectIQ app it seems to run.

  • My sensors have always been fine (not even one dropout) but I also only use the Komoot CIQ aoo.  I read somewhere that the 1040 uses a new version of the CIQ infrastructure.  It is possible that there is a bug in CIQ or that CIQ apps that have not been updated may not work correctly.  I also read that the developer's platform for CIQ that supports the 1040 wasn't even available as of a couple of days ago.  I don't think that at this point there is enough data to say that the blame belongs to Garmin or the CIQ developers not correctly updating their apps.

  • +1 with this issue. Edge 1040 Solar, firmware 12.11, Vector3 (updated to newest FW), Campy SR EPS, Garmin HRM-run. Would dropout every few minutes. Mitigation during ride was to change back and forth between ride profiles, which would make the unit reconnect to the sensors for a few minutes. Had SPGraph CIQ data field installed. Will remove and see if this does the trick.

  • Komoot doesn't access sensor data so maybe that's why it works?

  • Yep. Same. GRR. Just great: I’ve been on the col d’Aspin and Hourquette s’Ancizan and could have performed a lot better with the sensors. I lost connection after a few minutes with all sensors and it only came back a few times for a minute or so. Glad I had my watch on which gave me at least HR. This is what didn’t work:

    Garmin Dual HRV

    Shimano Dura Ace DI2

    Shimano Dura Ace power sensor

Non of them stayed connected, and non of them was able to reconnect properly Yes, I got all the latest firmware on the 1040 and sensors,

  • Yes, the solution @Teriemer found works also for me. Deleting the dashboard I used from the IQ store fixed it. It’s stil a bug though. Thanks Teriemer!

  • Same issue here. However, I don't have any IQ apps installed. After pairing the sensors drop out after a few seconds. During the ride, sometimes, the sensor data miraculously pops up for a few brief seconds. One would except they would be able to produce a unit with functional sensor connectivity... Quite the disappointment.

  • Same here.  First ride, high expectations, frustrating experience, disappointed.

firmware updated this am and I just removed all IQ apps.

On the upside, I gained 40 min of battery time over a 2.5 hr ride.

let’s see what tomorrow’s ride brings.

  • I can confirm that, as well.
Got my 1040 today and I imported all profiles and sensors.
I was able to connect the sensors. That was with firmware 10.xx
With the latest firmware the Edge 1040 does not find any ANT+ sensors, only Bluetooth.

  • Same Problem for me. Had an IQ App (SPHGraWH). Deleting the Page solved the problem.
