This is a Garmin forum. JW asked a question about the 1040, either answer the question or keep out. This is not a Hammerhead or Apple forum, respect that!

I don't mean to be rude, but is there any way you guys can stop arguing about this already? Normally I wouldn't care in a forum. I can just scroll past all the bickering and pointless personal attacks…

R&A Cycles just sent an email that they have the new Edge 1040. Probably an embargo leak, keep your eyes open should be any day.

Several days of comments seem to have disappeared, must be a fault in the forum software too.

I am surprised all the leaks are only relating to a 1040, I had expected all the Edge devices (540/840/1040) to be upgraded at the same time but nothing on the others . My "mature" eyes are leading me to a 1040 this time so not a big issue for me and I will wait a few months for the initial alpha/beta software to sort itself out a little and for prices to settle to just very expensive rather than absolutely outrageous.

Of course a clue to watch for will be when some new categories are added to the "Cycling" section of the forum.

If my memory is correct, the 10xx series is normally updated first, a few months ahead of the others. To the point that i think new features sometimes come with the others, which are then fed into the 10xx by FW.

But my memory isn't great !

If those pictures are valid, what a disappointment! Screen real-estate the same and resolution doesn’t look great. Looking at the map picture, you can see a WiFi icon in the top right hand corner, hopefully that’s LTE. However, this map picture shows the + and - for map zoom, please don’t tell me that you can’t move the map screen as per smart phone.

Hopefully this is a scam, otherwise what have Garmin been doing these last years. I am not interested in all the “features” that DC-Rain mentions. I buy a GPS for navigation that works complete with a decent sized map with up-to-date screen resolution and touch zooming(/positioning.
