Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Edge 1030 Plus device to your computer using the micro-USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Edge1030Plus_422Beta.zip folder.
  3. Copy the GUPDATE.GCD file from the Edge1030Plus_*** distribution folder to the \Garmin folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  4. If there is a GPS_*** folder, place the 006B310706.GCD file into the \Garmin\RemoteSW folder of the device. Please note, not all Beta releases will include an update.
  5. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the Edge, and wait for the update to finish.
  6. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE_410.GCD file in the \Garmin folder. Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device.
NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • Why disappointed? You are using a beta version, so issues can occur. That's the risk you take as a beta tester. If you want no issues or can't accept any risk, use the latest official firmware 4.10

  • Disappointed because it's the first thing supposedly fixed in this beta

Changes made from version 4.19 to 4.22:

    • Fixed various issues with course routing.

I do understand that beta versions may have issues ... just hoping that the specific issues addressed might actually be fixed Grin

  • Did you create the route on the Edge 1030 Plus or did you import it?

  • Same (disappointment) here. I only installed the beta - which I normally don't do - because I hoped that it will fix issues like frequent sensor disconnects, spontaneous resets, stuck or hanging navigation / routing, I had before with FW 4.10. My Edge 520+ which I used before the 1030+, was horribly slow, but it didn't show that much issues. FW 4.10 does feel like a beta, too ;)

  • Estimated time of arrival still to long and well off. Was working fine before these latest betas

  • Route created on Strava, and imported onto 1030+ via IQ app Strava Routes

  • It could be a problem with the map the Edge is using to calculate the route.

On Page 2 of this thread there are details of route calculation getting stuck when using OpenMTB map but completing using the Garmin map.

  • I did another ride today. Not good.

    - The route could not be calculated, got stuck.
    - the purple line was visible, so I could ride the route, although no TBT and the GPS was lagging behind.
    - at approx 5km, the device froze. The screen would not respond, but the Varia 515 was still working (could hear the beeps). I had to force power down using the 10 seconds press on the power button
    - I then changed my profile and disabled the OSM map and enabled the Garmin maps
    - I reloaded the route, which calculated fine
    - I could ride the route with TBT navigation without any further incidents

According to my experiences and others on this forum, it seems there is an issue calculating routes when OSM maps are used. But this was never the case before.

  • In previous versions it was possible to set the visibility in high contrast. Now there are the map themes, but it is not possible to set the old large cursor in white color (big and good readable.) any solution?

  • 85km ride with only the Garmin maps enabled. No issues with routing whatsoever. Proves that there is an issue routing with OSM maps.
