Even with FW 3.0 the temperature displayed on the edge 1030+ is 5 degrees celsius higher than the ambient temperature, especially when there is a lot of sun.
Same problem as the Edge 1030 3 years ago :

Any suggestions?
Yes, Garmin recommends as a workaround the installation of brain2.0.exe. This will enable you to automatically subtract the extra degrees Celsius from the displayed temperature. I have…
Unfortunately no. But brain2.0.exe seems to be an upgrade that is installed in the background and replaces brain.exe. That means without brain.exe in delivery state no upgrade is possible ;)
I would like…
I've never looked at the device to tell me it's hot or cool outside. To me, this is not a big deal, and nothing I would lose sleep over.
I have also posted about this. 4 cycling colleagues on various Garmin / Wahoo’s have on average 5°C less than what I have on my 1030+. Also left the device in the shade outside at home along with a few other thermometer type devices and agin between 3.5 - 5° higher on my 1030+.
Same here about 3 degrees higher on my edge plus compared to my friends 830.
Very valuable input for the discussion. For the me the temperature history is useful to decide which clothes to put on if the temperatures are between 0 - 15 °C . It should not be a big deal for garmin to fix it but it looks like they are ignoring it.
Like gradient lag, excess temperate doesn't appear to affect all units.
My Edge 1030 Plus tracks ambient temperature within ±1C of two Tempe units I compared it with. (When indoors and not charging it seems to track the indoor temperature fairly well.)
Unless I take it indoor for charging, my Edge 1030 Plus, which has a screen protector by no cover, stays on the bike which is in a workshop at ambient temperature. What I have noticed is it can take the Edge 1030 Plus up to thirty minutes or more, depending on the temperature differential, for it to come near to ambient temperature after it has been indoors.
I did not notice any excessive temperature readings before. I assume this could be a bug in the current 4.19 beta firmware.
