Garmin Express- continued prompts to update maps

I selected Europe as the only region I want to install on my device.

However, GE keeps insisting on informing me that I can put additional maps onto the device- is there any way to remove this prompt?

  • I want to sell this unit and get something without issues but I cannot in good conscience sell it when it won't even update maps. Please get this escalated Blake, this is a $600 GPS that should be working to simply update maps.

  • I still cannot install maps other than the US cycling maps without getting the error that I cannot unlock maps

  • This is the screen "  installed maps"

The problems remain the same wit the new version of GE Mac 7.3. The installation of new cards where always a problem with my Montana 600 an Gpsmap 276 CX. Mac and Garmin .......... always a problem i give up.

  • Getting worse. I can't update my Garmin 530 now with Garmin Express 7.3 on Windows 10.Click here to play this video

  • Hey Blake, we really need a solution here. Any news?

  • I agree. This issue has been on and off for over 8 months. I'm Technical Director for a software company, I'm extremely technical and I know how to debug software, so I've offered to do whatever tests necessary (given I've got a system that doesn't work) but those are ignored. Further information was asked for above, which we gave, but not even an acknowledgment or a thank you. It's not like it's a small issue, it's a pretty fundamental one to not be able to update maps on a navigation device. It's not like it's an entry level device either, it's top-of-the-range and supposedly the world's best bike computer.

  • Yesterday I wrote a very extensive email, in Dutch (to the Dutch Garmin support) with screenshots of GE and reported the maps on my 1030plus. I also reported what I have done already (uninstall GE, remove device, reset device, removed activities and courses, updating GE to latest version etc). I also told them I cannot remove maps as well. It is very annoying this does not work. I really hope Garmin can solve this. I am a fan of Garmin and have several devices (watch, radar, heart rate band etc.)

I have the same problem on my Mac. THe only way it comes back is if I select a new map and hit apply... and cancel on the next screen. Then I can see everything... but it goes all black again shortly there after if I do anything

  • That is also the case with me
  • I also have the same issue.
