Garmin Express- continued prompts to update maps

I selected Europe as the only region I want to install on my device.

However, GE keeps insisting on informing me that I can put additional maps onto the device- is there any way to remove this prompt?

  • Today I received an answer of Garmin Netherlands:

If your Dutch is not so good, Garmin is saying it is a known problem. If you update the device the new maps will be uploaded to the device. The problem is in the Garmin Express software. It will be resolved in the next update of Garmin Express.

In an additional email Garmin expects the update within 2 weeks

    Jeroen

    Problem reported to Garmin was:

On Garmin Express several updates (5) are available for the new unit I bought Edgge1030plus After installing the files, the updates are still reported in Garmin express as updates to install Are the updates installed yes or no, and why is the “install” / install all” not removed from Garmin express and the update files as well of course. Please help to solve this problem, because I cannot determine whether the devise maps are updated or not. I have already reinstalled Garmin express but theat did not help

  • You can also use this tool to remove maps: https://www.javawa.nl/jdm_en.html I need to remove at least one to free up some space! All well-and-good saying "don't need SD card slot because we've increased the memory to 32GB" but there's still no free space by default ;)

  • After 10 years of using Garmins, I'm starting to look for alternatives. First it took 15 or 20 tries to pair the Edge 1030 Plus with my iPhone. Once I got that working, then my maps constantly want to be upgraded in Garmin Express. Uggh.

Are there any decent alternatives to the Edge series that does navigation?

  • Sad but true. I've seen a lot of my friends move to Wahoo devices. :-(

  • I'm looking at the Hammerhead Karoo now, but it looks like they are seriously back-ordered at the moment. I guess I'll stick with my older Edge 1030 for the moment.

  • There's talk of a v2 karoo in the making .....

  • At least something we can use ... Thanks.

  • Latest Garmin Express update has fixed the maps wanting to update. Slight smile

  • therevokid, go wash your mouth ;)
