Sounds like an APAC (Asian-Pacific) version of the venu. Ask what FW it's running and CIQ version (from what's seen in About on the watch)
One thing that can slow down GPS acquisition is if you have a lot of history in the Garmin\Activities folder. Check how many activities you have in there.
Correct it will also add arrow to a route.
The original question was associated with history
its shows as compatible in the store. The user I have been working with is in Singapore, so I'm not sure if they would have a slightly different watch model.

Do you have a min SDK set in your manifest.xml? The Venu runs 3.x, the venu2, 4.x. When you look at your app in the store do you see the venu as compatible?

It is fixed with the latest version of Garmin Connect.
