yes - it needed Garmin Express on the desktop to sync up from 6.12 to 7.20; all other attempts I did before (Wifi, Bluetooth via iPhone App, Garmin Webupdater) didn't work.
The FR35 is notorious for producing corrupt activity files, which as a consequence are not accepted by garmin connect. Look through the forum for multiple similar reports.
