This is just astonishing . Wore both watches during a 30k run. Garmin at approx 88% at start, AWU at 95%. Both gps, music on Garmin, routing on Garmin. After 30k: AWU at 75, Garmin at 18%. Ultra runs on Garmin? Don’t think so.

Not sure when you got the Marq (Gen 2), but it was released in October of '22, so potentially several years old. And I assume the Apple Watch is brand new. Given the calender aging and the cycle a…
I would review all settings on your Marq. Also consider uninstalling any Connect IQ watchfaces and apps, disable PulseOx, AoD, and rather use your phone for music instead of the watch - it shortens the…
I mean I specifically bought a garmin so that I would not have to carry my phone with me.
You can use it, if you want, of course, but then do not complain that the consumption is higher
…I lost my silicone strap with black buckle on holiday.
Looks like you have found a strap for your MARQ - congratulations!
Wauw, you really live on this forum. FYI, it’s an old strap with the grey buckle. It sucks.
Not sure when you got the Marq (Gen 2), but it was released in October of '22, so potentially several years old. And I assume the Apple Watch is brand new. Given the calender aging and the cycle aging of lithium-ion batteries, this is not a fair comparison. Not to mention improved battery technology since 2022.
The Carbon version is 1 year old. The AWU is newer, correct, but still...
I would review all settings on your Marq. Also consider uninstalling any Connect IQ watchfaces and apps, disable PulseOx, AoD, and rather use your phone for music instead of the watch - it shortens the battery life more than three times faster in comparison to plain GPS mode without music. And personally, I do not use AoD in my activities, since I do not need the watch face lighting all the time, when I look at it perhaps 10 times during the run.

Music and routing on Garmin, it is your answer.
Now try to do this opposite and see results.
Playing music over BlueToots and routing especially consumes a lot of battery.
How I like when somebody do "real tests" not having same conditions.

That completely defeats the purpose of a sports watch then. I mean I specifically bought a garmin so that I would not have to carry my phone with me. Running with a phone is not fun at all.
Both gps, music on Garmin, routing on Garmin
Routing can consume a significant amount of battery. Especially if you are calculating long tracks, and not follow them, so that the watch has to recalculate them. The actual route calculation can drain the battery very fast.
Does the AWU2 support full scaled offline mapping? If not the comparison isn't really that fair.
But losing 70% on a 30k run is indeed insane and doesn't seem right.
